About Skiathos
Skiathos is the westernmost island of Sporades, only two hours away from Volos and one and half hour by
ferry from Agios Constantinos. This is the most tourist developed of the Sporades Islands and offers goods
services, infrastructure and organization.
The island has only one settlement, Skiathos Town, which is the port and capital of Skiathos. The island has
beautiful large beaches and tourist resorts. The most famous beach is Koukounaries, a fine beach with soft
sand and surrounded by lush greenery of pine trees.
Holidays in Skiathos is ideal for those who love exciting nightlife and large beaches. However, it is also an
island that keeps its authenticity as it has many calm coves to enjoy privacy and calmness.
Picturesque paths, hidden valleys, a few calm beaches, impressive caves on the northern side, sculpting
rocks and small coves are the many jewels that visitors can find in Skiathos. In fact, the island recently
provided the setting of a Hollywood film, the famous Mamma Mia movie.

Location: Town
Bourtzi is a tiny peninsula at the entrance of the port that divides it in two district parts. A fortress was built there in the
13th century to protect the town, however tody only few ruins survive. This is a popular place for rest and recreation,
full of pine trees.
House of Papadiamantis
Location: Town
This museum was the home of Alexandros Papadiamantis, an important Greek writer, who lived there in the 19th
century. Located in Skiathos Town, this museum has personal items of the writer and many folklore pieces.
Medieval Castle
Location: Lalaria
The Castle of Skiathos is located on the northern side of the island, accessible by boat or through a track path. This is
a former Medieval town, built on a rocky cliff. In the area, there are remains of old structures such as churches, walls,
baths and many more.
