2016 has officially begun. While the world is busy making

resolutions and seeking self-improvement, you may still
have the hurts that you had in 2015. Perhaps these hurts
are spiritual because of sin. Perhaps they are relational,
or maybe even physical. What should you do about these
hurts? Let Charles Spurgeon encourage you today.
If you can cry out to Jesus, he will joyfully hear you. If you
will give him no rest, he will give you all the rest you need.
The Lord finds music in his childrens cries. Oh, you say,
I would cry, but mine is such a discordant and foolish cry.
You are the very one to cry, for your sorrow will put an
emphasis into your voice. Of all the cries your children
utter, that comes closest home to you which arises out of
their pain and deep distress. A dying moan from a little
one will pierce a mothers heart. See, she presses the
babe to her bosom! She cries, My dear dying child! and
weeps over it. You too shall be pressed to the bosom of
everlasting love, if you can only groan or sob or cry.

Read Gods indictment of the people in Zechariah 7:9-13.

Ask yourself if this spirit of indifference toward those suffering around you can be found in your heart. Specifically
think of the needs among believers locally and around
the world. A good resource to consider in your attempt to
combat any selfishness that our hearts can be prone to is
David Platts, Counter Culture.

Rev 21 - One of the great lies of Satan is when he is able to convince

believers that Heaven will be boring. This is why we must saturate
our minds with Gods revealed Word. This chapter teaches us some
fascinating things about our future home. Consider just a few of the
realities mentioned in this chapter. May this list cause you to say,
Come quickly Lord Jesus!.
-There will be a capital city in the new Heavens. It is called the new
Jerusalem (v.2)
-This city will fascinate us at the exact moment we see it (v.2), similar
to the way a bride fascinates her husband on their wedding day as
soon as he lays eyes on her.
-As we are in awe of this city, a loud voice snaps us out of our
amazement because something even more amazing is about to be
proclaimed. Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will
dwell with them, and they will be his people and God himself will be
with them as their God! (v.3)
-He will personally wipe away the tears we have running down our
faces (v.4)
-Nations will exist in Heaven (v.24)
-There will be leaders of nations who will bring gifts to The Lord God
Almighty in the new Jerusalem. (v.24,26)
-There will be gates to the capital city - and they will never be shut.
World peace will always exist. This will be a world without fear (v.25).
May the Word of God fascinate us and cause our hearts to long
for Heaven - because its there where we will dwell with our King
forever!

Thursday

Jonathan Edwards 70 Resolutions are a helpful reminder

as we hear much talk of New Years Resolutions at the start
of the year. Here are a few to consider:
6. Resolved, to live with all my might, while I do live.
17. Resolved, that I will live so as I shall wish I had done
when I come to die.
56. Resolved, never to give over, nor in the least to slacken my fight with my corruptions, however unsuccessful I
may be.
For more information, you can read all 70 of Jonathan Edwards resolutions for free online.
