This article talks about the achievements of an African American, Jackie Robinson, and
how he became a big star in the MLB. This shows just as white men can become big stars
in the MLB, so can black men.

This source, although it is short, shows the respect Jackie Robinson obtained as the article
does not mention that he black. This helped the civil rights movement as blacks were
given recognition for positive actions.

decision. This greatly benefits the civil rights movement as now the public is disagreeing

people that he is worthy to play, this influences the African American population to
believe they have a chance at ending segregation. The actions taken by Jackie Robinson
also motivated other African American baseball players to make an attempt to make it to

This source is most recent compared to the others. It shows how baseball evolved from an
all-white sport, to a sport that is diverse. Larry Doby, an African American replaced a
white manager, not because he was black but because he was simply better fit for the
position. This shows that baseball had severely benefitted the civil rights movement

This article shows the hard work and achievements that African Americans had on the
sport of baseball. The article shows that blacks play just as well or better than whites,
giving a sense of equality.
