Can't open Google

Didn't installed anything new on my computer. Before when I was openning Google and was
serching anything with clicking on links it was always redirecting me to absolutely different
sites. Now when I'm trying to go to Google page, bringing me to a page 404 Not Found. If using
other Search programms Like yahoo or MSN it's openning the page but if typing in search bar it's
bringing me back to this page with 404 Not Found. How to go to Google now ? And why it
happed ? I tried everything. Method 1: See whether you can view another Web page Method 2:
Run the Network Diagnostics tool in Internet Explorer Method 3: Reset the modem or the router
Method 4: Delete your Browsing History Method 5: Use Internet Explorer in No Add-ons mode
Method 6: Reset Internet Explorer configuration Settings
I didn't Diagnose internet page cause it didn't give me any links to that
What should I do ? Can't Search Anything !! Please help !!

Hey Udginiya,

Please further explain what you meant when you said "I have also malware installed." Did you
mean that you have another antivirus already installed, and if so, which other antivirus do you
have installed? Did you mean that either Avast! or another antivirus had detected malware on
your computer?

Let's check to make sure you aren't working through a proxy. (that was set up by you or
configured without your permission) This can be checked by:

Open Internet Explorer

Click Tools

Click Internet Options

Click the Connections tab

Click LAN settings

Uncheck any box that is checked under the Proxy server heading

Click OK

Click OK

Close Internet Explorer

Open Internet Explorer

Not being able to search is a classic sign that your browser has been hijacked. Please work
through each of these troubleshooting guides in the order that they are listed below: (some of
these steps will be a repeat, but please do these steps again as you see them in the links below)
1. Run the Microsoft Safety Scanner
2. Work through the troubleshooting methods provided in the troubleshooting guide linked
below:
Microsoft Safety & Security Center - Fix your hijacked web browser
3. Work through the steps provided in the answers of the thread linked below:
My Internet Explorer has been hijacked by a virus

Then restart your computer and test to see if you can access search engines again.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi, Udginiya,

Have you scanned for malware?

Download and run this tool. Perform a full scan
http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/malware-removal.aspx

Is google your default search provider?

Tools > Manage Add-ons > Search Providers

Or, are you going to google.com and typing into the search engine? Is this where you are getting
the 404 Not Found messages? Or, are you typing into Internet Explorer onebar and getting 404
Not Found?

Some web developers use redirects

Tried to install link you sent me..It's not letting me..saying this software is not compatible with
the version of Windows I'm running. That I need either 32 bit or 64 version. What's that ? how
should i check that ?

To answer your questions - I tried both ways. I put google as default provider and then change to
let say yahoo...was typing - nothing worked..

What's next ? Thanks for such a fast answering. Hope that will work

Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator

Type Ping www.google.com

Sorry you had to search for it. If you right click on it you should be able to pin to start menu so
you see it as soon as you click on start.

1) Try pinging again only this time when typed, add quotation marks
ping "www.google.com"
(there is a space between ping and "www.google.com")
press enter

If you get the same message, do the following

2) Your system has lost the setting for ping.

1. Right click 'My Computer', select 'Properties', click on the 'Advanced' tab
2. Select 'Enviornment Variables'
3. Select 'PATH' from the list of system variables and edit
set PATH to c:\windows\system32
Press OK
reboot system
http://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/fix-not-recognized-as-an-internal-or-external-command/

3) Uninstall Safari browser - reboot your system and retry opening google page

4) Open command prompt and type netsh winsock reset

press enter
This will repair and reset your winsock settings
Next, type netsh int ip reset
press enter
This will Reinstall and reset TCP/IP (Internet Protocol)
Reboot system

administrator>....Now I can tell you there probably i screwed up ? I'm still going to this
command prompt through computer search. You still didn't tell me how to get there...Step by

start...SORRY I DON"T UNDERSTAND WHERE IT IS...CAN YOU TELL ME STEP BY
STEP WHERE IT IS ???? The same as first message you said right click on command

The easiest way to find Command Prompt is to go to Start and type CMD
Press CTRL+SHIFT+Enter and it will open with Administrative Privileges

If you press Start and type CMD you will see it listed under Programs - Right click on it and
select Run As Administrator or select Pin To Start Menu. The next time you need Command
Prompt, press Start and you will see it in the Start Menu (left index)

Disable your Anti-Virus and firewall for just a few minutes in order to test. Once you've disabled
them, retry google.com - When finished, reenable the firewall and av software.
If still not working, try this troubleshooter
