History

History is the analysis and interpretation of the human past that enables us to study
continuity and change over time. It is an act of both investigation and imagination that seeks to
explain how people have changed over time. When you understand history, you understand basic
concepts and ideas. You will learn about cause and effect, relationships and human nature. Since
history is mainly about what causes the next event or action, people can clearly understand how
things are related to one another.
History is important because we are the past, we are the product of all the events good or
bad. This helps and guides our actions in the present to avoid the mistakes that we had did
before. The only way we can understand who we are and how we got to be that way is by
studying and analysing the past. Similarly, the only way we can understand others is by studying
their past. If we don't understand what made them who they are, in terms of how they think and
act, we will make different mistakes in our interactions with them. History also enables us to
have a record of events to check to see what happened before and not to repeat past mistakes that
can cost us big damages or sacrifices.
Why do we need to study history? It is simply because the analysis and understanding of
history provide an important environment for evaluating modern institutions, politics, and
cultures. And looking back to the past, we improve ourselves and works by reflection; we get
experience or lessons from studying what we did that will make us better. It is true, an
experienced worker makes him be more popular, for he has more "experience" to improve
himself. The past also involves our happiness and we can re-enjoy them by looking back the
past. What's more, history is a valuable treasure for a country. In the passage of time, the change
of the society, social disorders and frequent natural disasters, all the important events in history
provide lessons and experience for a nation.
So why is history important? First because it helps us to understand ones existence. Everyone
wonders why their environments and situations are like what they are right now. All this can be explained by
the study of history which can tell you the story of your race, country, state, forefathers and your culture.
When you put all these together, you will understand why things are the way they are and clear your doubts.

Second for a better future. When we study about wars and other killings committed in the past, we also
analyse their causes, their courses and their path. This helps us in preventing future mistakes of similar
kind.It also helps us in determine the future effects of our actions by comparing our situations with situations
in history. Third, for us to learn from our ancestors. People like Einstein, and Newton have contributed
important thoughts and teachings to their respective fields. They had worked extensively to gather these
ideas for the future generations. All their great work will be wasted if we do not understand their ideas and
appreciate the work done by them. We can also learn those ideals and implement them in our own life, thus
paving the way for a successful and fruitful life. We may not be able to copy them or completely imbibe
their ideas in our life, but when we study them, we prevent these ideas from being lost. We can always pass
these on to our next generation. Fourth, to govern efficiently. To plan an efficient government we need the
understanding of governing procedures that have been followed throughout history. We will also get an
understanding of the policies, which were successful and also the ones that were not. This kind of analysis
will increase our understanding of people and the ways to deal with them. Fifth, for inventions and
discoveries. There are many important inventions, formulas, medicines and discoveries which belonged to
our ancestors and were lost in time. In the course of historical research and reviews, these were discovered
and then used. Ancient books and inscriptions have always been interestingly detailed and possess far
superior sense of understanding of life and sciences than the present times. And lastly, to have solid
foundation. No matter what is the subject we are talking, studying or discussing about, it will always have a
historical background to it. History provides the backbone on which most of todays theories and subjects
are supported. Science, languages or social sciences, all subjects are based on their history and studies by the
pioneers throughout the ages.
I can say that studying history makes us stronger, all the experiences that we had,
negative or positive can make us better if use it in a good way. We should study history better, to
understand life better, and to live better.
