1 Check sd card in windows to verify you have data base files ( the firmware is
marked as hidden by the meade update program and you will not see it unless you
have hide files function turned off, but the other files are not). Since the fi
rst thing to load is the firmware and then the data base you may be missing one
or more files. If you made a copy of the sd card before updating you can compar
e to your current card. Replace missing files. My card has Firmware.bin<hidden
>, maps, menu, objects, tours folders.
2 If no back up, try uninstalling autostar disc and then re-install or install t
o new computer. My unit was from 2007-ish and has 1.2q on the autostar disc alo
ng with the data files I think. Recommend using a new sd card or at very least
copying your current card. Perform an update and this should give you a sd card
with 1.2q firm ware and data files. So... back to a fresh start. My personal
experience was to go to the update program on my computer's c: drive, drill down
to the backup files and select folder options. Here uncheck hide hidden files/
programs. Now firmware.bin should appear in the folder on c: drive. Replace t
hat firm ware with one known to be 1.2tc. I think I disconneced from the intern
et to keep it from changing back to 1.2q. Perform update. Test. No promise of
success but this has worked for my unit.
Call meade for a new sd card. However I paid $5 shipping and got a non-working
sd card (I do not know which firm ware)
My guess is that a some point the chips for the mysky were changed at the factor
y for a period. Some units work great with the 1.2q firmware while others do no
t. Looks like it is just luck if you get a unit that will accept 1.2q or only 1
.2tc. My kids have really loved this gadget I am glad I did not send it back.

Thanks very much for this excellent post which has just fixed my
recently bought MySky. It is such a useful gadget and so sad when it
went wrong after "upgrading". Now all fine with 1.tc, even updated
the comets list and spotted Lulin last night.
Thanks
