We are now only in the first quarter of Kaliyuga (
references, which are increasingly drawing the attention of thinkers everywhere for the
factual correctness of statements made therein, nowhere talk of such destruction. We
may, therefore, rest assured that though the solar storm, if it should at all occur, may
batter the earth and drastically influence weather conditions, can in no way contribute to
or give credence to the 2012 doomsday forecasts.
But can such solar activity trigger another tsunami for India as it happened on
December 26, 2004 which year too ended with one of the most unusual eruptions on the
Sun? Instruments aboard the Solar and Heliocentric Observatory (SOHO) spacecraft
recorded a gigantic coronal mass ejection (CME) and this burst of solar energy into space
was said to be visible to scientists over a nine-hour stretch. This event on the solar
surface occurring at about the same time the earthquake-tsunami struck Asia assumes
importance in our understanding of the tsunami phenomenon.

Before continuing with the solar activity angle, we would like to refer to the
Mahabharata episode of Dwaraka being swallowed by the sea within seven days of Lord
Krishna shedding his body. This also coincided with the dawn of Kali Yuga,
a period that would see the erosion of Dharma, according to the Puranas. Apart from this
scriptural angle, the time cycle that began now was called Kali Yuga, the cycle of Kali
and was defined by the mean conjunction of all the planets at the First Point of Aries. This
definition of Kali Yuga is given in the Surya Siddhanta and also by the great
mathematician Aryabhata I.
As students of astrology, we may note this conjunction would involve the major
planets Saturn, Jupiter and Mars apart from the minor planets and the luminaries and it
would be at the junctional point of the watery sign Pisces and the fiery sign Aries.
Astrologically speaking, such a unique celestial event could have far reaching
repercussions on terrestrial affairs. Seen in this light, the tragedy at Prabhasa and the sea
rushing in and submerging the city of Dwarakapuri were nothing but the result of that
rare ashtagraha kuta (8-planet conjunction) occurring in the First Point of Aries. The
celestial event triggered powerful subterranean seismic activity in the Indian ocean in the
region of the Arabian sea throwing up gigantic tidal waves that flooded the coastal city of
Dwarakapuri submerging it under the sea. The description given in the Mahabharata
clearly fits with that of a tsunami whose play is only a matter of minutes but the havoc it
causes can be massive. In other words, Dwaraka went under the sea as a result of a
tsunami and further, this would be the first recorded tsunami in the history of India.
A careful examination of this episode coinciding with the commencement of Kali
Yuga provides the first astrological clues to the tsunami phenomenon.

A careful study of the earthquakes* occurring in the Indian subcontinent in the last 120
years shows just 3 severe earthquakes of magnitude 7 and above on the Richter scale in
the region of the Indian ocean and which have been known to have led to tsunamis
striking Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar islands. The charts (geocentric) and the
heliocentric positions (Table) of planets on these dates seem to confirm the clues
identified in the Dwaraka tsunami.

Chart 1 is for the quake that struck Sumatra but whose impact was felt nearly 2000
kms away from the epicenter as far as in Tamil Nadu and the Andaman and Nicobar
islands in the Indian ocean. In the other two cases, the time not being known, the
planetary positions are for 5h. 30m. on those dates.
A careful examination of all these 3 charts shows some common features.

This sign gets stimulated further by Rahu occupying it in Navamsa also.

with Ketu. Venus is in another watery sign Cancer.
Mars and Venus: The Martian element appears to also have a say for Mars as bhumiputra
can be said to share astrological affinity with the Earth or bhumi.

According to Parasara,
Heliocentric Positions: The heliocentric position of Mars could also have a stimulating or
exciting effect on the earth, both Mars and the earth being genetically astrologically
connected. Further, it is important to note the fact the orbit of the earth around the Sun
lies between those of Venus (inner planet) and Mars (outer planet).
When the course of a planet is disturbed from the normal path (perturbation) owning to
the force of attraction (gravitation) of the Sun, Moon and other planets, there is a shaking of
the planet.
When planets occupy certain juxtapositions, their resultant gravitational force could
disturb not only the normal path of another planet but also its interiors. When this
happens to the earth, it could produce a shift in the tectonic plates to which modern
science attributes earthquakes. Science can only tell you earthquakes are caused by the
shifting of tectonic plates but cannot convincingly explain why the plates shift in the
first place. According to Newtons First Law of Motion, everybody continues in its state of
rest or uniform motion unless acted upon by an external force. If that be so, what is that
external force which disturbs the state of rest or of motion of the tectonic plates except
the planetary gravitational pulls!
The heliocentric positions of Mars and Venus at these major subterranean earthquakes
resulting in tsunamis are interesting.

These factors can produce cyclonic storms and seismic activity on the Indian
subcontinent and the Indian coastline but the absence of a Jupiter-Saturn connection
rules out a tsunami of destructive magnitude hitting India in 2012.
Mars, Saturn Mercury and Venus are in angles or at 900 from one another
heliocentrically on December 21, 2012 (see Table). But this gets toned down by Jupiters
trinal aspect on Mars. The intensity of solar activity going by John Nelsons findings in
this period is therefore greatly reduced and may not be as severe as anticipated by
scientists.
While the year 2012 will have its quota of natural calamities there will be no end of
the world kind of destruction or havoc. Least of all, a tsunami of the magnitude of the
December 2004 one on the Indian coastal lines!
