Faculty Learning Community Approach

Effects on Management: According to the Appalachian State
Universitys article Faculty Learning Community Helps Professors
Support Students Differ Learning Styles (2014), references faculty
community learning as curriculum tailored to meet the different
ways students learn (para. 2). Managerial techniques and strategies
could also be tailored to train learners by catering to his/her
individual learning styles.

Learning
Platform:
Learning
Management
Systems (LMS)

Processes that
Facilitators will
Utilize:

Managing Adjunct Faculty from a Distance

Challenges:
1. Lack of face-to-face communication
2. Technical difficulties could cause intermittent
communication
Strategies:
1. Could use video streaming
2. Have a plan to communicate in several ways, such as via
text or mobile device

Evaluation Strategies for Facilitators

Feedback questionnaires from learners in the classroom regarding
the facilitators performance and periodic mentor evaluations

Alignment of Evaluation and Management Strategies with Key

Faculty Skills
1. Response time- Instructors need to be quick with
responding to learners in the classroom.
2. Accessibility- Managers need to remain accessible for
questions and guidance among learners
3. Handling difficult situations- Facilitators need to remain
calm and encourage fast solutions during difficult
situations.
4. Creativity- Learners could be engaged with creative ideas
and activities in the classroom.
5. Organization- Clear expectations from facilitators could be
effective if presented in an organized and precise manner.

The learning platform that will be utilized is Learning Management

Systems (LMS). According to the Training Magazine Networks article
eLearning Learning: LMS + Platform (2015), LMS is referenced as
software applications that allow companies and educational institutions to
deliver content and resources to their learners and manage their delivery
(para. 5). Software tools could strengthen familiarity with technology and
organize online learning tools.

Information, such as lectures or videos, will be presented through

online links and posts available weekly to learners.
Class discussions will be conducted daily and encouraged to
contain ongoing questions.
Private discussions will remain private at all times through a
separate online portal.
Assignments will be received through online assignment drop
boxes or portal links.

Technology/Media
Tools to Engage
and/or Enhance
Student Learning:

Assignment feedback and grades will be posted upon review and in

a timely manner, such as 2-4 days after submission.

1. YouTube: A visual tool utilized through current social media that

could be utilized to provide educational videos, promotional
material, and additional resources for learners. YouTube could
engage learners by allowing access to social media tools and ability
to link videos to presentational materials.
2. PowerPoint: Could be utilized to provide audio, video, hard-copy
materials, and visual tools for presentations in the classroom.
PowerPoint could engage learners by encouraging creative visuals
and allowing various presentation techniques to be utilized by
learners.
3. iPad: Technological mobile device utilized to provide internet
access during structured activities. Internet access could engage
learners by downloading mobile applications of games on the iPad.
