Preparation of the car for installation

TRIP COMPUTER TC-6 is designed for installation into ŠKODA FELICIA

cars. You will need a flat-head and a cross-head screwdriver, nippers and
flat pliers to install TC-6.

Switch off ignition and remove key out of the switch box.

Dismantling the instrument cover

The instrument cover is attached to the instrument board by five screws with
cross heads. Three screws are located below semicircle dummy buttons at
the side of the buttons: in the right button line bellow the right dummy button,
in the left button line below left and right dummy. Loosen the dummy buttons
by pressure from below and put them towards you.

The fourth screw is located below the mounting hole cover on the left side of
the instrument panel. Lift the cover by loosening it carefully from above
using a flat-head screwdriver.

The fifth screw is located below the centre ventilation regulator between the
air exits. Grip the cover at the top between the fingers and take it out.

Unscrew the five cross-head screws. Loosen the plastic catches which hold
the instrument cover to the instrument board.

Creating a passage into the engine space

As a cable passage from the car cabin use free positions in the rubber seal
through which passes the hydraulic regulation hose for dipping the
headlights. The seal is located on the left side behind the instrument panel.

POSITION OF THE SEAL IN THE ENGINE SPACE

Using nippers cut off blind seal terminations from the engine space side to
create passages.

Installation of the main cable bundle

The main cable bundle consists of the outdoor temperature sensor, the flow
reader, the fuel level indicator connection wire, the feeder +12 V and the
grounding wire. Spread the main bundle in order to install separate parts of
the bundle. Place the main bundle connector on the left side of instrument
cover hole.

Flow reader
The flow reader consists of the actual reader, the metal stirrup and the
preamplifier.
INSTALLATION INTO A CAR 7

FLOW READER

1 - reader
2 - metal stirrup
3 - preamplifier

ATTENTION:
The flow reader and the preamplifier are oversensitive parts. They must
not be strained mechanically, especially by bending, gripping with pliers or
straining them by pulling.
Make sure that data on the label correspond to the actual engine type.
(MPI)
To prevent the possibility of the flow reader signal interference it is
necessary to observe the described routes of the flow reader cable in the
engine space.

Take off the upper engine cover in order to make access to the injection
valves. Shift out the metal stirrup from the reader and put it in a safe place.
Push the reader with the preamplifier through the seal into the engine space
and push the cable through.
1.3 MPI engine: Lead the flow reader cable from the seal into the engine
space along the original cable bundle to the injection valve of the fourth left
cylinder (from the car front view).
1.6 MPI engine: Lead the flow reader cable from the seal into the engine
space along the partition which separates the engine space and the cabin,
behind the heating exchanger directly to the injection valve of the first left
cylinder (from the car front view).

SHIFTING THE FLOW READER INTO THE

STIRRUP

1 - flow reader
2 - metal stirrup
3 - red wire
4 - injection valve connector
5 - reader and stirrup slots
INSTALLATION INTO A CAR 8

Install the flow reader on the red wire from the pair of wires, which go to the
injection valve. Remove PVC wrapping of the wires up to 30 mm from the
injection valve connector. Wire the metal stirrup of the reader onto the red
wire and shift the reader into the stirrup slots so that its cable is parallel with
the remaining wires for the injection valve. Fix the reader by wrapping
insulating tape around and fasten its cable using clamping strips. Fasten the
upper engine cover back on its original place.

Outdoor temperature reader

Stick the outdoor temperature reader through the seal and pull it into the
engine space. Lead the reader cable along the cable bundle to the left
headlight using existing cable grips. Insert the temperature reader into the
holder and lead it into the front bumper space towards left fog lamp pocket.
From model 98: Remove the left fog lamp grate. Bore an aperture ø 6 mm
- see figure bellow. Lace the thermometer with holder through an original
opening ø 30 mm and fasten it forward using enclosed screw M6 with
washer and nut. Get the fog lamp grate on.
Older models: If the car is equipped with fog lamps, loosen the fixing
screw of the left fog lamp and fasten the holder with the thermometer below
the screw in order to point the reader forwards and the cable upwards. If
there are no fog lamps installed, remove the fog lamp pocket cover and
fasten the holder with thermometer using enclosed screw M6 with nut.
