AeroLogic was an early 777F customer, and has a total of eight in service and on order
inject $50 million in fresh capital with the intention of
resuming long-haul services. This was realised on 6
November 2001 with a transatlantic service to Madrid. After
a long-standing dispute with Grupo Marsans, an agreement
was finally reached which allowed the Argentinian
government to renationalise Aerolineas, and sister company
Austral, in July 2008, although the process was not approved
by the Argentinian congress until December 2008.

Casablanca in May 2009. Kathmandu briefly became Air
Arabias second hub in January 2008 through a joint venture

Region Air Lines, which was reorganised, becoming Air Arabia

Description Austrian flag carrier operating scheduled
services to more than 130 destinations in 66 countries on
five continents and charter flights within Europe, to Asia, the

History Formed through a merger of Air Austria and Austrian
Airways. Launched domestic services in May 1963.
Transatlantic services, in co-operation with Sabena, were
inaugurated in April 1969. Became a member of the Star
Alliance in March 2000. Acquired Rheintalflug in February
2001. Name shortened to Austrian in September 2003
when AUA rebranded its three constituent carriers. In
November 2007 the Austrian privatisation agency
announced that it had chosen Lufthansa for exclusive final
negotiations on the sale of the states stake in Austrian
Airlines. By May 2009 Lufthansa had received declarations
of acceptance from Austrians freefloat shareholders for the
expected equivalent of more than 85% of the carriers total
share capital. On 30 July 2009 Lufthansa announced that it
had reached material agreement with EU regulators over
its acquisition of the Austrian flag carrier. The EU formally
agreed to Austrians acquisition by Lufthansa on 1
September 2009, subject to certain route reductions and
other conditions. The shares of Austrian Airlines are held by
the Austrian company, LH sterreichische LuftverkehrsHolding, 50.2% of which is owned by the LP
sterreichischen Luftverkehrs-Privatstiftung and 49.8% of
which is owned by LB sterreichische LuftverkehrsBeteiligungs, which is a wholly owned Lufthansa subsidiary.
LH currently holds 95.4% of the shares of Austrian Airlines.
It will hold 100% of the shares on completion of the squeezeout procedure expected to be completed in the second half
of 2010.

between Minneapolis/St Paul and Chicago. Passenger
services began the following year. On 15 July 1947,
Northwest pioneered the great circle route to Asia, with

Manila, Philippines. On 15 April 2008 the airline agreed to
merge with Delta Air Lines. The merged carrier retained the
Delta identity, and the Northwest Airlines name disappeared

The airlines name changed to Abal Air in 1982 and to West
Air Sweden in 1992. West Air Sweden converted to a cargo
airline in May 1997 after discontinuing its scheduled
passenger services between Sve and Sundsvall. On 29
October 2008 a merger was announced between parent
company West Air Europe and Atlantic Airlines of Coventry
(UK) to create West Atlantic, which will be Europes largest
all-cargo regional carrier. The individual carriers, Atlantic
Airlines, West Air Sweden and West Air Luxembourg were to
continue operating under their separate identities, while
