Education and Outreach Executive, The Necessary Stage

Formed in 1987, The Necessary Stage (TNS) (www.necessary.org) is a non-profit theatre


company, and a recipient for the National Arts Councils Major Grant (Singapore). TNS is also the
organiser of the annual M1 Singapore Fringe Festival.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of arts education programmes and external commissioned projects
Help to pitch and market the projects to stakeholders
Negotiate contracts
Manage administrative and production, rehearsal as well as touring schedules
Ensure timely payment and invoicing
Oversee production work
In charge of the archival and documentation of the projects
Ensure working conditions consistently comply with all regulatory requirements
Milestones:
Partnered with the Ministry of Community, Youth and Sports (MCYS) to 79 primary schools
Collaborated with the National University of Singapore Centre for Biomedical Ethics in 2012
Commissioned by HCA Hospice Care in 2012
58 secondary schools in 2013 and 2014 with the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF)

Project Executive, M1 Singapore Fringe Festival

Singapore

First held in 2005, the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival (www.singporefringe.com) is an annual


multidisciplinary arts festival showcasing local and international works. It has since involved and
featured artists from 38 countries.
Responsibilities:
Part of the curatorial team for the festival programme
Assist in the publicity and marketing of the festival to academic institutions
Create a positive, supportive and fun work environment for volunteers and interns
Milestones:
Highest ticketed audience in the history of the festival with an average of 93% in 2014
19 out of 31 performances sold out in 2014
Successful marketing campaign of the festival in 2013 and 2014, with advertisements in more
than 50 bus stop shelters and taxi stands nationwide
