SAAs 81st Annual Meeting is almost upon us! We are excited to be hosting
this years annual meeting in Orlando, Florida, The City Beautiful, April
610, 2016. With an exciting array of papers, posters, and forums, the
2016 meeting promises to deliver a vibrant scholarly program as well as a
host of other activities!
This years meeting will open Wednesday night with my first Presidents Forum, Climate
Change and Archaeology. This forum will examine climate change from several perspectives.
Speakers will survey models from climate science; past climate change effects on human
societies; archaeological remains as proxy climate records; climate change and plant
domestication; and archaeological heritage management in times of climate change. The
forum is organized by Daniel Sandweiss. I hope you will join us for this special event.
In 2016, the SAA Board will host the overwhelmingly popular student reception Wednesday
night from 9:00-10:30pm. It is not to be missed and I encourage all students to attend.
I hope you can join us for what is sure to be a memorable meeting!

only to immediate family members of a
registered meeting attendee (assuming
the guest is a non-archaeologist). Immediate family includes spouse/partner, parents, and children. Friends, colleagues,

must display at the meeting venue. Guest
badges simply provide access to the meeting venue. Guests are not meeting attendees. Guest badges will be available

registration process. If a guest badge is to
be purchased on site (as opposed to
through advance registration), the meeting registrant must accompany the

Climate Change and Archaeology
Archaeologists know that climate
change has affected human history in
the past and that increased climate variability and sea level rise is affecting people and archaeological sites now. In this
forum, climate scientists and archaeologists examine climate change from several perspectives. Speakers will survey
models from climate science; past climate change effects on human societies;
archaeological remains as proxy climate
records; climate change and plant
domestication; archaeological heritage
management in times of climate change.
