PROBLEM STATEMENT

The management of people at work is an integral part of the management process. To


understand the critical importance of people one has to recognize that the human
element and the organization are synonymous. Employees have to be motivated to
ensure that they perform the task effectively and efficiently in order to achieve the
objectives and goals of the organization. Also, employers have to be effective in
leadership behavior and not treat employees as machines. This study is to investigate
the influence of work motivation and leadership effectiveness on employee
performance in an organization.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

 To determine joint contribution of Work Motivation and Leadership


Effectiveness on Employee Performance.
 To determine the relative contribution of Work Motivation on Employee
Performance.
 To determine the relative contribution of Leadership Effectiveness on
Employee Performance.
 To determine the significant relationship that exists both between Work
Motivation + Leadership Effectiveness and Employee Performance.

HYPOTHESIS

Work Motivation and leadership effectiveness leads to enhanced employee


performance.

 Work Motivation
 Effective Leadership

DEPENDANT VARIABLE

METHODOLOGY

 Research Design
Conclusive Research Design will be used since we’ll be testing the
hypothesis and examining relationships between the independent variables
and the dependant variable. Within Conclusive Design, Descriptive
Research will be used as the specific hypothesis has already been formulated.
 Research Instrument – A questionnaire will be designed which will be
based on a likert scale [5 point scale : SA– Strongly agree, A- agree, N-
neutral, D-disagree, SD – Strongly disagree.]
Variables that will be used to measure the hypotheses will be:
o Motivation
 Drive which will cover Activity, Achievement, Fear of failure
and competition.
 Control which will cover power, recognition, status and
ethics.
 Challenge which will cover interest, flexibility, progression
and pressure.
 Relationships which will cover teamwork, management,
customers and business,
 Rewards which will cover remuneration, job security,
autonomy, growth.
o Leadership Effectiveness
 Emotional Intelligence
 Contextual Thinking
 Directional Clarity
 Reciprocal Communication
 Drive/ Persistence

 Sample size – 50 employees from two organizations will be asked to fill the
questionnaire. In regards to the variable age, the participants will be between
the age group 25-35.
