Extensions
In general, extensions should only be granted where the following criteria apply:

the student has made a written request for an extension prior to or within three working days of the
due date for the assessment item; and

The student has justified their request on the basis of individual circumstances that are reasonably
likely to have prevented them from completing the assessment by the specified deadline.
Extension for Assessment date is not approved for students who have simply procrastinated and then
found themselves lacking time.
Only one extension will be given per assessment

An application for extension of an assessment item must be lodged with the Academic coordinator through your
trainer. You will be notified by email to your email address of the outcome of your application. If your extension
is granted then it is your responsibility to keep in contact with the trainer and to hand in the assignment with a
copy of the email (or other document) approving the extension.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is using the words or ideas of others and presenting them as your own without acknowledgement.
The following constitute plagiarism;

Downloading an assignment from an online source and submitting it as your own work.

Buying, stealing or borrowing an assignment and submitting it as your own work.

Copying a section of a book or an article and submitting it as your own work.

Copying, cutting and pasting text from an electronic source and submitting it as your own work.

Using the words of someone else and presenting them as your own.

Using significant ideas from someone else and presenting them as your own.

Copying the written expressions of someone else without proper acknowledgement.

Relying too much on other people's material

In the event of a student being found to have plagiarised or cheated in some way in an assessment task
student will be given a Not Satisfactory (NS) status for assessment task and the Unit will be deemed Not Yet
Competent. Similarly a student who fails to submit an assessment task will also be deemed Not Yet Competent
for the unit. Students will be provided with criteria for the completion of any assessment activity. Standards of
work will be reflective of the content, performance criteria or elements required of a (or group of) module(s) or
competency (ies) and/or in line with relevant and current workplace practices.
Review Process
Students who are dissatisfied with their Assessment outcome may request a review. The review period is 2
weeks after the completion of the unit. The College will not undertake an assessment review of any
