I would like to nominate Manojkumar Warrier, who is otherwise known as Manoj by family and

friends, to be a recipient of an honorary Villanova degree. Since 2000, Manojkumar Warrier has
served as a volunteer for The International Association for Human Values. He is also a certified
instructor for meditation and has taught more than a thousand people across the globe in efforts
to help them cope with trauma and stress. This role has allowed him to become involved with
kids in the most rural, tribal areas of India, thus enabling them to take the first step towards
success - to aspire to be morally upright and impart humanly qualities in the highly competitive
world. The future of these communities rests with the younger generations, who can bridge the
modern world of knowledge and technologies with the ancient wisdom of their tribal traditions.
Most of the students in the underdeveloped schools are first generation learners of their families
and villages and they are the sole hope for their tomorrow. Thus,
Born in Mumbai, India, Manojkumar Warrier has received his education from numerous
institutions, including University of Bombay where he has earned a Bachelors Degree in
Commerce. In 1988, he shifted his focus to studying Computer Science and just a year later,
acquired the position of a trainee at a leading American multinational technology and consulting
corporation, IBM. He served with IBM for 15 years as Product Manager for the Lotus software
before immigrating to The United States of America in August of 2004. Manoj has worked at
several Senior Executive position before he decided to take on yet another role - that of a small
business owner and founded. Omnitrance Solutions Inc. in May 2010 with his wife. His
company, which has provided jobs for several highly talented workers, offers many services,
including leadership programs to overseas American schools affiliated with the US State
Department. The international schools aim to provide quality overseas education to the children
of many high ranking consulate and embassy staff. Apart from education-related services,
Omnitrance has also worked closely with Seagate to offer Disaster Recovery Cloud Services and
has been recognized its contribution towards the technological industry.
From 2004, Manoj has also been actively working to raise funds for the Care for Children
program which offers free education for children in poverty stricken, rural, and tribal areas in the
many countries. He has also endeavored to provide these children with university-level education
in collaboration with universities such as Sri Sri University by sponsoring their education and
donating to the cause.
Furthermore, Mr. Warrier has worked very hard to implement change in his local community as
well. Building on his experience as a certified meditation instructor, he has offered trauma relief
programs to displaced citizens affected by the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy actually
spending time in shelters and interacting with them. At that time, he also joined forces with
United Way, an American non-profit organization, to collect food and clothing for such
individuals, and was officially recognized for his services.
Throughout his life, Mr. Warriers primary mission has been to oversee the uprising of the human
values in individuals whose have faced adversity in their day to day lives. This drive is
predicated on the belief that education is the birth right of every individual, and this fundamental
value has inspired him to work with numerous educational institutions in order to implement
change in society each and every day.

Mr. Warrier is definitely deserving of Villanovas honorary degree as his life goals and
accomplishments have very often coincided with the values of Villanova. For instance, his
current job as a small business owner involves supporting various educational institutions across
the world. His support consists of providing these students with the proper resources which helps
them maximize their intellectual potential and affording them with opportunities they otherwise
would not have had access to. Thus, not only does Mr. Warriers values intersect with Villanovas
goal to foster intellectual progress, both in terms of education and self-improvement, but he is
also guided by his strong commitment to service. Mr. Warrier provides these resources such as
projectors and laptops at an extremely affordable rate and in fact when working with schools in
the Middle East due to customs and shipping costs, he barely even makes a profit. Instead his
motivation is solely based on helping others and the personal satisfaction that arises from
knowing that he has actively made a difference. Furthermore, Mr. Warriers daughter, Vaishnavi
Warrier, is also affiliated with Villanova University as she has been an attending student since
2013. Vaishnavi is a very promising student at Villanova as she has been accepted into a
distinguished program known as the BS/MD program which accelerates her Villanova education
into 3 years rather than 4. Yet, even though this loss of a year entails a more rigorous course load
she has still taken it upon herself to participate in various Villanova extracurricular activities
including numerous service opportunities such as Villanovas days of service.

Evidently, Manojkumar did not attend an American university and as a result college visits with
his daughter were almost like college visits for himself. Therefore when he visited Villanova
both him and his daughter both fell in love with the university as Villanova seemed like the
perfect place for his daughter to continue her journey. Not only did it reflect key values he
believed in such as the important of academic excellence and service, but he couldnt help but
feel the friendship and camaraderie shared by everyone at the university. These are qualities he
has strived to instill in his daughter not only through explanations, but by example. This included
being involved in her numerous interests both leisurely and academic and throughout the whole
process encouraging her to understand the values of teamwork and helpfulness. As his daughter
attended the university and shared her stories and experiences, Manoj couldnt help but feel
connected to the school. These were the same types of stories and he wished he could have had
and through his daughter he was able to feel part of her experiences. Still, he took solace in the
fact that his daughter, Vaishnavi, has blossomed into a true Villanovan laden with a core set of
values and beliefs. In order to solidify this affirmation even more, it only seems appropriate to
provide Manoj with an honorary degree so he can have a tangible reminder of his beliefs, values
and dreams that he was able to share with his daughter and Villanova University.
