Feels enriching; feels like learning something or being part of pop culture

Podcast doesn't require a huge commitment

Expose one to things one wouldnt be exposed to otherwise
Having someone read newspaper
Not much time commitment can multitask

Accessibility, variety in content, length of podcast (manageable time less than 1.5
hrs)

Very important; wouldnt gravitate towards podcasts that lack these qualities

Talk to friends about them and sometimes listen together; wiling to share on
social media

Serial: frequency (used to be every week, now every other week; forgets so
much within a week and hard to catch up)

Have you done anything differently?
A year ago b/c of a friend; now listening more frequently b/c podcast is a big part
of the pop culture, esp. serial; now integrated into daily life; more likely to search
for podcasts (never actively seek out, but still look for shared links on Facebook)

Definitely interested.
Would like to see a playlist similar to Ted talk playlist;
Categorize based on eras or themes (e.g. theme of happiness) and make it
manageable for people (series of 5 interviews)
Make it easy to navigate

Very interested; culture, history, and literature in this order
16. How have podcasts played a role in your social life? academic life?
Social life: Well-read people talk about podcasts so listening to podcast gives the
impression of being an intellectual; also, aspiring comedians listen to comedy
bang bang
podcasts are now part of a larger persona
Academic life: helped her by introducing her to new perspectives
Little snippets of info can be applied in academics - little interesting things that
you can talk about later to sound smart
17. What comes to your mind for the following: interactive podcast, interviews, oral history
Interactive podcast: script of whats being said
If something is referenced, then that information/link is provided so ppl dont get
lost
Being interactive is the most important; would be curious to try an interactive
podcast
Interviews: two people talking; dialogue
Oral history: in-depth; interviewer is informed and asks contextual questions
18. Which kind of interaction would you expect to have on the website? what kind of level
engagement do you want to have?
Pictures, thumbnails for one to get a basic idea of what the interview will be
about
Black&white/color can hint at the time period; little triggers like these can help
Ted talk format
Feature throught-provoking trigger words

Live show also effective: having a history professor introduce the
event, invite own guests
