-How does an organization manage its resources and finances?
Students manage a class budget where services need to be paid for and credit can be earned
through taking extra responsibilities. Also designing a simulation/ spreadsheet to model the
spending of/ accumulation of funds

Students get to know themselves and new classmates during their time at camp, learning to
cooperate. In preparation, they find out about what makes them unique- personality styles,
learning styles, habits of mind, as well as interests, ambitions and goals.

What are the natural disasters that can inflict damage? How are they caused and how can we
prepare for them? Look at natural disasters and prepare a plan or support resource for

-Where the wild things are; Our responsibilities in life change depending on our roles and
relationships.
Using the book and film “Where the Wild Things Are” as a stimulus, students become more
aware of how responsibilities in life are shaped and influenced by many factors (including
cultural influences). Autobiographical information and personal storytelling is an important tool
in this inquiry. The main student initiated inquiry could take several shapes and forms, from
recording a ʻfamily treeʼ showing responsibilities in their whanau and other families. It could
also look at the responsibilities within school/ the classroom and the diverse roles people
play- a class structure of governance could also be investigated and elected in order to make
effective decisions and smooth classroom organization.

Create a series of podcasts celebrating the uniqueness on NZ and the influences that shape
our nation from the perspective of its citizens

-Fair Go awards- media, ads etc.
-BP Awards- technology to fit a design brief or meet a need
-Outlookforsomeday- movie or animation around the broad concept of sustainability
-MADE Awards- films/ animations on any theme- to present learning
-NetguideWC- Movie or website 'teaching us about...' an element of someone's learning
Then the more long-term projects...
-Sponsoring a student through World Vision or another organisation ($30/month) in order to
develop global links and enhance the students' global perspectives
