SCHOLARSHIP
PROGRAM FOR THE YEAR 2016

May we request your assistance to disseminate this invitation from the Korea
International Cooperation Agency Yeungnam University to the Masters
Degree Program on Community Development Leadership on August 25, 2016
December 31, 2017 in Seongnam & Gyeongsan, Republic of Korea.
The brochure and application form can be obtained from the DILG-CLGSC

applications,
applicants
should
submit
other
supplementary
documentation/requirements to the address below on or before 15 February
2016.

Program Objectives:

Educating and training policy experts and public educators who will work
for the socio-economic development and the improvement of the quality of
life in the developing countries.
Teaching and promoting Saemaul Undong spirits and modalities among
global talents who can contribute to the prosperity for all in the global
village.
Contributing to global development and the eradication of extreme poverty
in the world by sharing Koreas Saemaul Undong experiences with poor
and underdeveloped countries.

Application Eligibility
1) Be a government/municipality official or a researcher working in his/her
home country with a Bachelors Degree or higher.
2) Be nominated by his or her Government
3) Must not have pending administrative/criminal case
4) Must hold a permanent appointment
5) Have a good command of both spoken and written English to take classes
conducted entirely in English and to be able to write academic reports and
theses in English.
6) Be preferably under 40 years of age in good health, both physically and
mentally, to complete the program (pregnancy is a disqualifying condition).
7) Not be a person who has withdrawn from KOICAs scholarship program.
8) Have not participated in KOICAs scholarship program or any of the
Korean governments Scholarship Program before ( Masters degree
program).

Travel to KOREA
KOICA arranges and pays for the participants to travel to and from Korea. The
participant is to travel by the most direct route between Incheon International
Airport and a main international airport in the participants home country, KOICA
will cover an economy class, round-trip airfare.
If a participant wants to change the flight itineraries, they should pay the
additional airfare. The participant is responsible for the issuance of an
appropriate visa (which must be the Study Abroad Vias [D-2] necessary for this
Scholarship Program. Should the participant be unable to get the appropriate
visa before the date of entrance, KOICA is unable to provide any assistance and,
if it proves necessary, participants may have to return to their respective
countries to get the visa issued at their own expenses.

Expenses for Study and Living


The following expenses will be covered by KOICA during the participants
stay in Korea.
o Tuition fee
o Accommodation (the dormitory of a training institute)
o Living allowance (including meals: KRW 999,000 per month (subject to
change)
o Study visit & field trip, etc. during the program
o A medical checkup after arrival
o Overseas travel insurance, etc.
To be considered in the pre-assessment, the nominees should submit the
following documents on or before 15 February 2016.
1. Endorsement from the Local Chief Executive 1 original
2. Endorsement from the DILG Regional Director 1 Original
3. Certification from the Head of the Human Resource Department 1
original (Using the attached format)

CERTIFICATION

__________ referred hereto as the Personnel Officer/HRMO certify that:
That Department of ___________ thru its Scholarships Committee endorses the
nomination of Mr. / Ms. ___________ to the __________ scheduled from
____________ to ________ and sponsored by the _______________________.
The said applicant has no pending administrative or criminal case;
The applicant has no pending nomination in another course;
The applicant has rendered the required service obligation for a scholarship
previously enjoyed;
The applicants PES ratings for the two immediate rating periods were at least
Very Satisfactory;
The applicant is physically and mentally fit to travel and attend training abroad,
and
The applicant shall not withdraw from the nomination and once accepted shall
compete the course and not be allowed to cancel or terminate the
scholarship/training without justifiable reason and without giving prior notice to
and getting the approval from the donor institution, TESDA and this agency.
This certification is issued as part of the requirements for application to shortterm, non degree courses under the Foreign Scholarship Training Program.
