Reactive Power Optimization using Firefly Algorithm
This project is based on views to reduce the real power losses in the transmission
network. Various power system variables such as the generator voltages, transformer
tap-setting limits, reactive power source capacity etc., were considered as constraints.
Firefly algorithm which is a nature-inspired metaheuristic algorithm is then employed
using MATLAB to determine the optimal values of these variables and thus in
reduction of real power loss.

 Optimal Allocation of Reactive Power for Voltage Profile Improvement using

GRADE Algorithm
This project aims at reducing the real power losses in the system while improving
voltage profile of the considered network. GRADE algorithm which is a combination
of genetic algorithm and Differential evolution technique is used in order to achieve
these objectives. Also PV analysis of the system is done using continuation power flow
analysis in order to ensure voltage security. The results obtained after optimization
ensured that the objectives were achieved along with the improvement of the
loadability margin.

held at Easwari Engineering College.
