TheUSPerspectiveoftheIsraeliPalestinianConflict
TheUnitedStatesofAmerica
PolicyStatement:
AlthoughtheUnitedStatesofAmericarespectstherightsofallcountriesandpeople
includingthePalestinians,theyfeelthatIsraelshouldbeallowedalloftherightsandfreedoms
thatcomewithhavingaJewishhomelandintheMiddleEast.

WeastheUnitedStatesofAmerica,acountrywithmanydifferentperspectives,is
motivatedtohelpIsraelinanywaypossible,especiallywhenitcomestothesafetyofitspeople.
FormanyyearswehavesupportedIsraelthroughoutalmosteverywarwiththePalestinians,who
arebentontakingbackwhattheyconsidertheirhomeland,andwehavealsosupportedthe
Jewishsettlerseconomicallyinordertohelpthemgrow,andthishaspushedthemtowards
makingpeacewiththePalestinians.Asprovidedbythearticle

statesrejecteda1947UNpartitionplanthatwouldhavedividedtheMandatoryintoseparate
JewishandArabstates,andtheareahasseenperiodsofinvasionsandarmedconflictsince
1948.

(Israel).Alongwithrejectinganyattemptsatapeacefulcompromisethatcouldhave
benefitedboththeIsraelisandthePalestinians,theArabsdecidedtostartawarthathaslasted

fordecades,costingtheinnocentlivesofnotjustJewishpeople,butalsothelivesof
Palestinians.Andeventhoughwehavetriedtohelp,thePalestinianshavemadetheconflictlast
byrefusinganyoffersorcompromises.TheUSsupportstheJewish,andifthePalestinianright
ofreturnwasinfactrecognizeditwouldcreateanevenbiggerproblemwithmakingtheJews
therefugeeswithnoplacetogoandremovingthemfromtheirsacredlandsandcitiessuchas
Jerusalem.(Palestinian).Fromthis,wehavealsoseenthatevenifanagreementwasfounded,it
couldmeanhardtimesfortheJewish,somethingthattheUSistryingtostop,andthatthe
Palestiniansmaynotbetrustedtoupholdthepeace.CanboththeIsraelisandPalestinianscome
toanagreementthatwouldcausetheleastamountofharmandalloweveryonetotrusteach
other?

WiththeIsraeliPalestinianconflictgoingonforawhilenow,theUSishelpingtosearch
foraviablesolutionthatcouldbeimmediatelyputintoactionandwouldbenefiteveryone
includingthesurroundingcountries.Formanyyearsdebatesovertherightofreturnforthe
Palestinianswholefttheirhomesandiftheyshouldbeallowedback,oriftheygavethatrightup
whentheyleft.TheUnitedStatesbelievethattheJewshavetherighttoIsraelandthatthe
Palestinianshavebeenfightingforsomethingthatcanneverhappen,andthattheIsraelishave
therighttobuildtheirsettlements.
Asofnow,theUnitedStatesisnowofficiallydedicatedto
upholdingtheIsraeliJewsasthemajority,andinpreventingitsreturntoaPalestinian
nationality.(Palestinian).Because,astheUnitedStates,wewanttoupholdtheintegrityofthe
Israeliswithasfewcasualtiesaspossible,webelievethatPalestineisthecauseoftheissue,and
thatextremenegotiationsneedtotakeplacebetweentherightpoliticalfigures.Asmentionedin

TheUnitedStatesofAmericaseemstobewillingtodowhatever
ittakesinordertoensurethesafetyoftheIsraelipeople,withlittlethoughttowardsPalestinians,
thereforebackingtheIsraelisinallaspects.AndwhilethePalestiniansaretakingthisthewrong
way,theUShastriedover,andovertoestablishaviablesolutionthatwillbenefitbothsides,
andcreateandequaleconomicfuturefortheIsraelisandPalestinians.(Zanotti).While
supportingtheIsraelisandignoringthePalestiniansmaynotseemtobethebestsolution,butin

Thesedays,however,theUnitedStates
hasuseditsleveragetourgeIsraeltoresolvethePalestinianissueandmoveforwardonplansfor
anautonomousPalestinianstate,(US)itshowsthattheUSisn'tsimplydisregardingeitherside.
We,TheUnitedStatesofAmericabelievesthatdenyingthePalestinianrightofreturnwouldbe
asolutiontotheproblembyforcingtherefugeestomovetoothercountries,andreducethe
violenceonbothsides.Withthisproposal,thecountriessurroundingIsraelwouldneedtoagree
toabsorbagreatnumberofpeople,alongwithhavingtheUSprovidethemwithhumanitarian
aidtomakesuretheysettlecomfortably.Manyissueswillarisefromthissolution,butwith
confidenceandthewilltopushforward,theUnitedStatesofAmericabelievesthatpeaceand
acceptancecanbeapossiblefutureforthesepeople.
