My name is Fuad Hamd Al-Bayati. I am 28 years old and I was born in Dyala, Iraq. In 2002 I
finished the secondary school in Kirkuk, Iraq. Because that my older brother works in the largest
oil company in Kirkuk (North Oil Company), He advised and encouraged me to study petroleum
engineering, so I joined the petroleum engineering collage at Baghdad University and graduated
in 2006 , I earned BSc degree in petroleum engineering with grade (80.972%) and rank (5) in a
class of (110) students.
In 2008 I employed in NOC. I work as an assistant engineer in Fields Division / Petroleum
Engineering Department.
I am planning to further my academic studies and I would like to pursue master degree in
petroleum engineering in US. I chose this program because I have a great passion for this
discipline and it is related to my background study and to my profession. By pursuing master
degree I will be able to serve my country to develop the oil industry either by continuing to serve
my present company with a greater knowledge and exposure or by teaching in Iraqi universities,
which that is also a great ambition of mine.
A thirst for knowledge has been my driving force since an early age. I thrive on gaining more
knowledge everyday and my biggest motivation is the continuous struggle to be the best among
my peers - a characteristic that drove me to graduate at the top five in my class. During my four
years of undergraduate studies in the petroleum engineering collage at Baghdad University, I
learnt basics in several core petroleum engineering subjects like well logging, drilling, petroleum
production engineering, petroleum reservoir engineering, geology, geophysics, enhanced oil
recovery, numerical methods and reservoir simulation and petroleum economic.
My main responsibilities at work are supervising well testing and wire line operations, Design of
Well Testing programs, Interpretation of Well Test Data. Now I spent more than four years as an
assistant engineer in north Oil Company and waiting to be promoted to engineer soon.
To achieve my goals, I decided to pursue MSc degree in petroleum engineering and I chose US
to do so that its academic studies have reached advanced stages and that its universities are
considered as outstanding universities which are well known over the world.
I believe a Masters in Petroleum Engineering will not only provide me with an in-depth
knowledge of the field I have been working in for the past 4 years, but also an opportunity to
gain broader understanding of the industry as a whole. I am hopeful that after completing my
Master's Degree, I will rejoin the industry as a more knowledgeable professional and I can teach
in the best universities in my country or abroad.

Just one point (an important one):If you are going to send this text to England or Australia do not
use the word "rank" because British people do not use this word in such context. This was a
problem that I faced when I sent my CV to a university in the UK. U can say :" I could graduate
as one of the Top Five students", or something like that.
