NikolaTesla's"FreeEnergy"Documentsreproducestheinventor's1902
lettertoRobertU.JohnsonaboutTesla'snewenergygeneratorthat
"wouldnotconsumefuel".ThisletterwasfoundintheTeslaCollection
atColumbiaUniversityLibrarywhenattendingtheIEEETesla
SymposiuminNewYorkinJanuary1976.Thisletterwillcometobe
consideredasimportantinthehistoryofelectricalscienceasthe
papersofFranklin,FaradayandMaxwell.A"translated"versionofthe
difficulthandwritingishere.
NikolaTesla'sLaterEnergyGenerationDesignswaspreparedforthe26thIntersocietyEnergy
ConversionEngineeringConferenceinAugust1991.ThepaperdocumentsthatNikolaTesla
claimedtohavebuiltanelectricalpowergeneratorthatwouldnotconsumefuel,whereinhis
writingsthedescriptionofsuchadeviceisfound,thetheoryofhowafuellessgeneratorcould
bepossible,andasuggestionastohowTesla'snewdevicemighthaveoperated.Thepaper
movesfromhistoricalfact,theclaimsforsuchageneratorinaletterhandwrittenbyTesla,to
speculationabouttheoperatingprinciplesoftheinventions.Atthetimeofwritingthepaper,
thehistoricalmaterialwascertain,buttheengineeringexplanationofhowthenewtypeof
generatorworkedwasspeculation.
TheSecondLawofThermodynamicsandTesla'sFuellessGeneratorwaspreparedforthe28th
(1993)IECECconference.IttakesupTesla'sargumentforafuellesselectricpowergenerator
thatdoesnotviolatetheSecondLawofThermodynamics.Thoughthedeviceappearstosupply
powerwithoutfuel,itisnotaperpetualmotionmachine.Tesla'sexplanationandamodern
analysisisgivenofthedevice'soperation.Thispaperpresentsamoresatisfactorytheoryabout
theengineeringaspectsofthenewgeneratorthanthe1991IECECpaper.
SincethepapersonTeslasnewtypeofelectricalgeneratorwerepublishedtherehavebeena
numberofinquiriesabouthisNotesonaUnipolarDynamoaboutasignificantimprovementon
theFaradaydiskgenerator.Amongit'sfeaturesitisclaimedthattheunipolargeneratorwould

increaseincurrentwhenmechanicalpowerwasremoved.
ASpecialCaseofVoltageGainisatechnicalnoteshowing
thattheequationforvoltagegainwillhavetobemodifiedfor
aspecialcoilthatmayberelatedtoTesla'sfuellessenergy
generatordesign.AregularcoilandoneofTesla'sdesign
aremeasuredandcompared.Measurementsshowthatthe
Tesladesignisover900%betterinvoltagegainthan
predictedbycalculation.
UnderwaterCommunicationSystemofNikolaTeslawas
writtenoriginallyin1992aspartofaninvestigationintohis
methodofsubmarinecommunication.ItsstartingpointisTeslasassertionthathiswireless
systemworkedwithoutelectromagneticradiationandtransmittedthroughtheearth.Modern
analysisofhiswirelessmethod,ontheotherhand,startswiththeincorrectassumptionthathe
wasusingtheradiobroadcastmethodsoftodayand,then,goesontoeitherdisproveTesla's
claims,ortriestofindsomewayofmakingTesla'sdescriptionofhistransmissionmethodfit
today'stechnology.Variationsontheearth/ionosphericcavityoscillationtheoryhavebeen
popularinbothoftheseefforts.Thispapershows,however,thatTesla'sworkwith
electrostaticspointstohisuseofdisplacementcurrentsforthroughtheearthtransmission.
SuchamethodisshowntobeconsistentwithTesla'sclaimsandisscientificallypossible.
Tesla'sWirelessPowerTransmitterandtheTunguskaExplosionof
1908firstappearedinadifferentformasamagazinearticlein1990.
Manyreferencestotheuseofhiswirelesspowertransmission
technologyasadirectedenergyweaponsystemappearinTesla's
writings.Themoretheclaimswereinvestigated,themorehis
statementsaboutaweaponsapplicationwerediscoveredto
correspondtobothhispersonalcircumstancesandtopublicevents.
Theypointedtothelikelihoodofhishavingmadeatestfiringofhis
powertransmitterasadirectedenergyweapon.
