Quote for pondering: ...Suffering with Jesus on the Calvary

road of love is not merely the result of magnifying Christ; it is
also the means. He is made supreme when we are so satisfied in him that we can let goods and kindred go, this mortal
life also and suffer for the sake of love. His beauty shines
most brightly when treasured above health and wealth and
life itself. Jesus knew this. He knew that suffering (whether
small discomforts or dreadful torture) would be the path in this
age for making him most visibly supreme. That is why he calls
us to this. He loves us. And love does not mean making much
of us or making life easy. It means making us able to enjoy
making much of him forever-no matter what it costs.

Monday

Wednesday

Bible Reading: Matthew 11:1-19; Acts 16:1-15; Psalm 25; Exodus 4-6

Bible Reading: Matthew 12:1-21; Acts 17:1-15; Psalm 27; Exodus 10-12

Based on yesterdays passage (John 1:35-42), what area

of a disciples life would you like to pursue growth? Communion with Christ (prayer and Bible reading)? Following
Christ (obedience to His Word)? Bringing others to Christ
(evangelism)?

Matthew 12:33-37 indicates that people with a filthy mouth

have a filthy heart. Christ condemns those who produce
bad fruit as being trees that are bad. He reminds us that every careless word will be judged one day. That is a promise.
As a Christian, knowing that people will be judged (even
to hell) for the filthiness of their mouths, how much more
should we strive to honor the Lord and love others with
our words? James tells us that a tongue of fire can set a
whole forest ablaze. Evil speech (by Christians) can destroy
churches, harm familial relationships, and dishonor our Lord.
Pray that you would be attentive to any speech that dishonors the Lord and ask Him to sanctify you like never before in
this area.

Tuesday

Thursday

Bible Reading: Matthew 11:20-30; Acts 16:16-40; Psalm 26; Exodus 7-9

Bible Reading: Matthew 12:22-37; Acts 17:16-34; Psalm 28; Exodus 13-15

Psalm 25:8 says Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He

instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in what is
right, and teaches the humble His way. This passage makes
shows the link between our humility and the Lords instruction of us. Knowing that knowledge can puff people up, pray
today that the Lord would strengthen you to pursue greater
humility before Him and to receive the benefits of a closer
walk with Him.
