My main duties for this project are to manage the day to day commissioning operations
of one of ten natural gas compression stations on the Reliance Energy "East/West"
pipeline, including personnel planning and all materials handling for site. Further duties
include assisting the commissioning team wherever necessary to commission the
various control systems included in the station. These systems consist of a Mark VI
turbine control system for the three "Nuovo Pignone PGT25 Turbine and 803/2
Compressor packages". Further systems are a GE Fanuc Duplex 90-70 PLC for the ESD,
F&G and process systems and a Versamax PLC for the hydraulic starter system. Four
such stations completed over the course of the project.

My initial placement was in Honeywell's Bracknell, UK office to plan and set up the site
portion of the Shell Pearl GTL project, to be installed and commissioned in Ras Laffan
Industrial City, Qatar. Subsequent visits included FAT's and site visits to Qatar and New
House, Scotland and eventual mobilization to the project in Qatar. My positions main
emphasis at site is to manage all aspects of the Honeywell project, including the
installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning of both the Honeywell Experion DCS
and Safety Manager IPS systems, in conjunction with the associated Experion,
Foundation Fieldbus and HART managed networks. Other responsibilities include all
planning works and procedure writing to successfully execute the project and materials
handling/load out/construction.

I was originally taken on as a Senior Commissioning Engineer to commission two


"Standard Fasel" HRSG's. After my first trip I was promoted to Lead Engineer and put in
charge of the PCO Power group, consisting of two senior commissioning engineers, four
commissioning engineers and upwards of twenty technicians. This new position

included managing the commissioning of all associated Power/Steam equipment


including two GE Frame 9E turbines, HRSG's, Power Island, Fire and Gas systems and
peripherals and filling in for the PCO Group Manager in special circumstances. After this
part of the project was complete, I then went over to the "Gas Treatment" area, again
as Lead Commissioning Engineer, this time supervising four senior engineers, 8
engineers and thirty+ technicians. This includes all of the Amine Treatment area, Sales
Gas Compressors and peripheral equipment. All of these works were carried out on
Chevrons "Second Generation Project-Tengiz" field in Western Kazakhstan.

The Commissioning of four HP compressor modules on the AKAL Charlie platform C7


and C8 hook up, offshore Gulf of Mexico (final client PEMEX). My main duties are the
commissioning, code modification (PLC and HMI), technical authoring, C&E testing and
final sign off of the control systems for the turbines, WHRU and Siemens compressors,
along with the associated process for the compressors. All systems are controlled by GE
Fanuc 90-70 and 90-30 PLC's running Versa Pro software, with an Intouch 7.11 HMI.
Main platform control by TDC3000 DCS which all units were interfaced to and Auxiliary
systems included Bentley Nevada 3300 vibration and Woodward Netcon 5000 engine
management system.

Commissioning Engineer

The commissioning of a BOP (balance of plant) ICS Mark VI system for a 340MW
combined cycle power station in Aceca, Spain for Union Fenosa corporation. My duties
for this project were as a technical consultant to Union Fenosa along with the general
commissioning of the control system. The main ICS equipment was the GE Mark VI
running "Control Systems Toolbox version 11" with a Cimplicity 5.5 graphics package.

The Commissioning of four Nuovo Pignone steam turbines and four reciprocating
compressors for an ammonia plant in Jilin, Northern China (PetroChina as final client).
All systems utilising GE Fanuc 90-30 PLC's running LM90 programming package and
Cimplicity HMI/MMI. All units interfaced to HEMA ESD system and Yokogawa DCS. My
main emphasis for this project was as site co-coordinator and software engineer,
designing and implementing all PLC and HMI modifications, commissioning of all
controls and associated instrumentation, vendor representative controlling all aspects
of the I/C portion of the project and liaising with the client (Linde Impianti

The Commissioning of four GEC Alstom Tornado gas turbines for power generation
(4.15 MW) on the AKAL Bravo complex offshore Mexico (final client PEMEX). All systems
utilising Allen Bradley PLC's running RSLogix with Intouch 7.0 HMI. All units interfaced
to FSI Fire & Gas system, Triconex ESD and TDC3000 DCS. Also utilized Bentely Nevada
Vibration and Speed monitoring system, and Woodward power monitoring and control.
The Commissioning of three LM2500 gas turbines on the Resak platform gas
compression upgrade, offshore Malaysia (final client Petronas). My main duties were
site management of local labour for all electrical and instrumentation systems
associated with the turbines, along with all instrumentation for the associated Elliot
compressors. All systems controlled by Woodward TCP, with Intellution HMI and

Micronet NT based PC running GAP control software. Main platform control by TDC3000
DCS which all units were interfaced to. Auxiliary systems included Bentley Nevada
3500 vibration and speed control.

July 1997 February 2002 (4 years 8 months)

Installation and Commissioning/Start Up of Fire and Gas/ESD/PSD/PCS system for new


FPSO vessel, utilising UNIX/NT based Cimplicity top end graphics and GE Fanuc 90-70
and 90-30 PLC's. Project initially based in Mitsui Zosens shipyard in Chiba, Japan where
I became the Site manager for the PDS portion of the project and sea trials. Topsides
were completed in Swan Hunter Shipyard, Newcastle upon Tyne and remaining
commissioning and start up work completed in North Sea on location. This position
included making and authorising all PLC and HMI changes requested by the client (Kerr
McGee) and commissioning of all controls and instrumentation.
I was seconded to the U.S office in September 98 to begin commissioning of MUX IV
subsea BOP control systems. Five such systems completed in various shipyards around
the world over three years. Inclusive are Reading and Bates Drilling, Noble Drilling,
Diamond Offshore Drilling and Saipem Drilling whilst subcontracted to Varco Systems.
This position included managing/making all installation, field engineering,
commissioning, software Modification using the LM90 programming package on GE
Fanuc 90-70/90-30 PLC's and Allen Bradley PLC's using RSLogix, all graphics
modifications using Windows NT based Cimplicity top end graphics package and
WGS/QNX, also eventual offshore subsea and sign off testing.
My position for these projects was as the head of the commissioning team overseeing
all aspects of the project, including making and authorising all drawing, software and
HMI/MMI modifications.
I then transferred to the Siemens/SKU Cadereyta, Mexico refinery refit project as a
Software Engineer/Site Manager. The main emphasis of the project being
commissioning Burner management and Cooling tower systems utilising GE Fanuc
PLC's with GE Fanuc Cimplicity HMI and interfacing to Siemens Teleperm DCS and S7400 PLC's . All PLC software and HMI modifications carried out by myself on site.
