“Adventure without risk is

Disneyland.”
I’m stealing this little corner for myself. I need
somewhere to express my gratitude for the opportunity of Douglas Coupland
being editor this year.
Generation X
Initially, I was intimidated by the prospect of producing
something less than what I think Rec can be. I’ve been here
long enough to recognize what a diverse and considerate
program this is, what grounded, kind, and insightful people
are part of it. I’d hate for the Quinzhee Quarterly to
represent something else than those ideals. In my mind,
ORPT carries on a tradition of folk who are able to shed
stereotypes and expectations to explore the world honestly,
who are unwilling to sacrifice action for thought, nor
thought for action. We do both, well, and to me at least,
the QQ is the perfect expression of this tradition.
Plus, you know, it’s kind of fun to see your name in print
once in a while.

Jill Legault is next year’s editor and she’s going to be

amazing. Send her all the articles you can. I can’t wait to
see how the Quinzhee Quarterly grows with Jill in charge.
