Objective:
This course helps in explaining the basic fundamentals of biosignals based on its acquisition,
processing, data reduction and noise removal techniques. This course also emphasizes on
various biomedical applications like neurological, cardiological and Magnetic Resonance
spectroscopy signal processing techniques.
Methodology:
Module I gives a brief introduction on characteristics and acquisition of various biosignals.
Whereas in Module II explains the artifacts caused in biosignals due to instruments. This
chapter explains the properties and effects of noises, the correlation process illustrated by
different case studies. Based on these concepts the signals can be reduced and compressed
with various algorithms as in Module III. In this module, ECG detection and EEG analysis has
also been summarized as an application of biomedical signal processing. Module IV
concentrates on adaptive noise cancellation technique with various algorithms and explains
the need of this technique in ECG monitoring. As an application study Module V adheres on
Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy which explains the signal processing using quantum
mechanical concept. Modeling core of any signal and system processing and analysis is
described in Module VI.

developed in logical progression with up-to-date information.
The topics cover classical control design methods as well as the modern control design
techniques.

Methodology:
Module I gives a brief introduction to digital control including sampling and reconstruction.
Module II gives the modeling of discrete-time systems by pulse transfer function including
review of z transform, signal flow graph and stability analysis

Module III gives the time response and different design concepts of digital control systems
Module IV gives design with respect to deadbeat response and state space modeling.
Module V gives concepts of Controllability, observability and stability in addition to state
feedback design.
Module VI gives the concepts of output feedback design and a brief introduction to optimal
control action.
