DSCP and IPPATH knowledge for GSM IP Network

Background Knowledge:
a. The DSCP value is 0~63. Different Signaling/Service has different DSCP.
b. There are 14 kinds of PHB (per-hop-behavior). The Priority order are,
EF>AF43>AF42>AF41>AF33>AF32>AF31>AF23>AF22>AF21>AF13>AF12>AF11>BE.
c. You can define IPPATH with different PHB. Totally you can define 14 IPPATH between two NEs. Different
service will use different IPPATH, depend on the configuration.
d. For convenient, you can define Qos IPPATH. It is equal to define 14 IPPATH with different PHB.
e. If Qos IPPATH is not configured, you need to configure special type of IPPATH. Or else, some kinds of service
will have problem because of no available IPPATH.

DSCP Value
1. The DSCP Value for Abis Signaling (OML/RSL/EML/ESL)
You can execute LST BSCABISPRIMAP to query the DSCP value for downlink (from BSC to BTS).

For uplink (from BTS to BSC), use command SET BTSVLAN to define. The default commands defined by BSC is
listed below,

2. The DSCP value for Abis service (CS/PS) for downlink (from BSC to BTS)
a. When configure a IP BTS, you need to configure the ADJNode first.
ADD ADJNODE: ANI=2, NAME="test_IP_BTS", NODET=ABIS, BTSID=2;
b. Then you need to configure ADJMAP for the ADJNode. In this command, you need set the TRMMAP Index.
ADD ADJMAP: ANI=2, ITFT=ABIS, TMIGLD=10, FTI=0;
Note: BSC6900 already configured 14 TRMMAP by default. TRMMAP=10 is for Abis IP. If you did not configure

ADJMAP for a BTS, BSC will use default value TRMMAP=10 for the BTS. You can execute LST TRMMAP to
check. And you can define your own TRMMAP depend on customers requirement.
c. Lets check the configuration for TRMMAP=10 (Or the TRMMAP you configured).

d. For IP interface board, BSC need to define the relation between PHB (EF/AF43/AF42//BE) and DSCP value.
The command is SET PHBMAP.
SET PHBMAP: SRN=0, SN=16, PHB=EF, DSCP=63;
3. The DSCP value for Abis service (CS/PS) for uplink (from BTS to BSC)
For uplink (from BTS to BSC), use command SET BTSVLAN to define. The default commands defined by BSC is
listed below,

4. The DSCP Value for A-interface Signaling.

The DSCP value for A-interface Signaling is defined when you configure SCTPLNK. The default value is 48.
ADD SCTPLNK: SRN=0, SN=20, SCTPLNKN=0, MODE=CLIENT, APP=M3UA, DSCP=48,
VLANFLAG1=DISABLE, VLANFlAG2=DISABLE, SWITCHBACKFLAG=YES;
5. The DSCP Value for A-interface service (CS voice/CS Data)
It is the same as Abis-interface. The TRMMAP=11 is for A IP. See below picture.

And the DSCP value is defined by SET PHBMAP command for A-interface boards.
6. The DSCP value for Gb-interface.

For Gb IP, no need to define ADJNode, TRMMAP and IPPATH. There is one command to define the DSCP for
signaling and service. The command is SET BSCPSTCDSCPMAP. The default values are,
