Rabbis for Human
Rights February 8 at 4:16pm RHR PLANTS IN THE VILLAGE OF DUMA,
TERRORISED LAST YEAR BY THE TERRIBLE ARSON MURDERS On Thursday,
RHR brought Israeli and international volunteers along with us to plant trees in
the Palestinian village of Duma, site of last summer's horrific arson murder. Five
years ago, 250 trees were uprooted from Duma, while settlers are constantly
trying to claim more and more of the village's land. We brought the village 150
trees and our volunteers worked hard alongside the Palestinians farmers to get
as many trees as possible into the ground. We were also joined by former
Meretz MK Former Mossi Raz and current Meretz MK member Issawi Frej.
Although the day was a bit more muted than usual, considering the horrible
circumstances that brought us together, there nevertheless was a strong
current of mutual cooperation and solidarity between the participants. We were
also joined by Nasser Dawabshe, the brother of Saad Dawabshe, the father
murdered in the arson attack this summer. Together, the group read a prayer in
Arabic and Hebrew seeking to give strength to the peacemakers of the world,
and those who wished went into the village and visited the site of the arson.
Additional photos from the event -->http://on.fb.me/1KsPlIw We thank everyone
who joined us. Our presence truly mattered to the residents of Duma, showing
them a different, compassionate face of Judaism. WANT TO HELP? Donate a
tree! For just $10 a tree, you can help us continue to spread goodwill through a
bit of restorative justice! --> http://bit.ly/1SuwI9p Like Comment Share
