INTRODUCTION
TO OPENTYPE
what is
opentype?

OpenType is a cross-platform font file format developed jointly by

Adobe and Microsoft. The two main benefits of the OpenType format are
its cross-platform compatibility (the same font file works on Macintosh
and Windows computers), and its ability to support widely expanded
character sets and layout features, which provide rich linguistic support
and advanced typographic control.
OpenType fonts can be installed and used alongside PostScript Type 1
and TrueType fonts.
The range of supported layout features may differ in the various
FontFontOpenType packages, therefore each OpenType package will be
accompanied by this ff Info Guide listing the layout features supported
by this specific font package.
Youll find a glossary of all available OpenType layout features in
SectionB of the general ff OpenType User Guide.

The first sketches were drawn for a project of a car-oriented weekly

magazine. Surprisingly, the first who used the typeface was a womens
health magazine. The designer created it for those who dont like too
modern, too elegant, too cold designs, being unique by their huge eye,
huge x-height and squareness.

Lukasz is a self-educated graphic designer as 15 years ago Poland

wasatoo interesting country to spend time at schools ... and schools
were boring he says. He now has a full time job in newspaper and
magazine design but works sometimes as illustration and animation
designer as well.
