Moving Bicycle Workshop

This project was made in the

Bartlett Summer School in 2015.
We had different clients for
ourselves and my client was
Bradley Wiggins who is a British
cyclist. I made a building that
suits with his job. It is a moving
bicycle workshop that has solar
panels and electric motor for
energy use. The electrical energy
is generated with the kinetic
energy of the bicycle's wheel
that is being used by a person
inside of the structure. The
shape of the building is designed
aerodynamically in order to
minimize the air friction.

Process of Marina Project

The aim of this project was to create a structure that is in a consistency with sea waves. I
used sticks as columns in this structure rather than concrete. The purpose is to maintain
the relation with nature, sea waves. Also, frontage of the building will be glass so I used
acetate to give that glass-looking.

Cross-section Drawing of Sir John Soane's Museum

I made a mini model of the cross-section of the building as a new structure. I changed
and played with some parts of the model and transformed it to an imperfect condition.

Imperfect Building Sketch

This is a sketch of the new building I created. I used other known structures in the city
to give a clue about how my new building will be adapted to the city's architectural
texture.

Imperfect Building
Finally I created my imperfect building
that is originated from a museum's crosssection view. The museum was made out
of bricks and concrete, while my building
is made out of wires and rebars that wrap
the frontage of the building to give an
abstract looking and at the same time get
along with modern structures in the city.

Business Centre
I wanted to design a business centre which is located inside water in order to combine both the chaotic
environment of a city and the calmness of the water and the waves. I also wanted to reflect the structure of
waves through the buildings and the wires that they are attached to. In addition, these wires transfer energy
from the water to the buildings, generating their own electricity. Also, I added solar panels on top of the
buildings in order to generate power from the sun. These aspects make this project an ecological project
which produces its own energy without harming the nature and the environment around it.

Levent
I created this
architectural model
in D&D Design Studio
Summer Program. My
aim was to create a
building which is in
coherence with the
architecture of
Levent,Istanbul but
also bring a different
perspective to the
environment. This
building serves to be
a museum in which
there are several
gallery areas, a cafe,
an entrance and an
office for the
museum workers.

Cultural and Modern Architecture

Rize House
Rize, which is my hometown, has a
land which is extremely hilly and
inclined. Because of this, most
buildings in Rize are apartment
structures which have numerous
floors. These sketches demonstrate a
modern understanding of this
cultural architecture in Rize.

Architectural sketches of the

Rize House
Since Rize has a very rainy
weather throughout the whole
year, the roofs of these high rise
buildings tend to constantly
cumulate water. I personally
wanted to improve the cultural
architecture of my city, and turn
this disadvantage of the inclined
land into advantage by designing
roofs that are integrated with the
structure of the land. In order to
add a more modernized look to
these old, cultural buildings, I
used glasses on the frontage of
some of the floors of the
building. Hence, this also made
the building integrate better with
nature and its surroundings, and
it can also take advantage of the
daylight.

Architectural Drawing
I was influenced by Auguste Rodin's
architectural sketches and I wanted to do
some similar sketches. At first, I used the
same techniques as Rodin used. But over
time, I started to develop my own way of
doing architectural designs and sketches. I
wanted to reflect the ancient architectural
elements specific to periods like the
Renaissance period. Therefore I included
many sketches of different architectural
monuments from all over the world.

Metamorphosis
I was investigating about the topic of metamorphosis and I wanted to exhibit the
relation between humans and animals by comparing and contrasting a female
figure to a lion. The stance of the figure evokes a lion's roar.

Metamorphosis and Constructivism

I was personally amazed by peacocks, thus, I designed a building out of the feathers of
this marvelous creature. Through these sketches, I wanted to demonstrate the
metamorphosis process behind the final work.

Dome
The Church of the Savior on
Spilled Blood is one of the
most fascinating structures
for me in architecture. I was
very impressed by the domes
of the church and their
excellent design. So I wanted
to investigate the shape and
the details of this dome.

Figure Drawing
I was inspired by the
impressionism movement in art.
I wanted to explore further in
this path, therefore, completed
a painting using impressionist
techniques.

Figure Collage
This collage represents the infinite worlds of a
human being. I wanted to show how an individual
can have multiple perspective and views of the
outer world. In addition, each door may symbolise
various personal traits of an individual.
