System Requirements
OS: Windows XP/2000/Vista/7/8/10
Software: .NET Framework 4.0 / Mono 2.10 or newer
CPU: 1.6 GHz single-core processor (minimum)
GPU (optional): CUDA 1.3+ or OpenCL 1.1-enabled device
Memory: 1 GB RAM
HD space: 200 MB for program files.
Display: A 1024x768 display resolution is recommended as a minimum.
Steps to be followed for installing DWSIM Version 3.4 Build 5740:
1. Locate the file named DWSIM_bin_v34_b5740_full.exe from the pen drives supplied by
CAPE Public Relations Team or you can manually download this file from the following
URL:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dwsim/files/DWSIM/DWSIM

(Note: When you open the above link in your browser, the file will be automatically
downloaded in few seconds, so please WAIT for the download to begin)
2. Then right-click the file and select Run as Administrator option.
3. Once you click it, you will be alerted with a dialog box asking confirmation of installation.
Click Yes.
4. Then DWSIM 3.4 Setup wizard appears. Click Next to continue.
5. Then click I Agree. Now you will be asked what components to be installed by showing a
list of 4 components [DWSIM, Register DWSIM Types, ChemSep 7.01, Microsoft Visual C+
+ 2010 x86 redist]. Make sure that you check all the checkboxes in the list and click Next to
continue.
6. To install in different folder, you can change the destination but please remember the location
of the destination file. Then click Next to continue and click Install to begin the installation.
7. The installation begins and wait till you encounter a ChemSep 7.01 LITE Setup wizard.
Now just click I Agree button [retain the default installation option: Install for anyone using
this computer] and click Next till you see Install button and then click it to begin the
installation of Chemsep.
8. Click Finish to close the wizard.
9. If Chemsep is opened automatically after installation, please close it.

DWSIM Additional Guidelines

To add ChemSep Database to DWSIM
1. Locate DWSIM file from installed location and open DWSIM v3.4 Build 5740 in your
computer.
2. Click Create New Simulation icon in the Welcome to DWSIM window.
3. A Simulation Configuration Wizard appears on your computer. Locate Cancel option and
click it.
4. Then, in the menu bar, you can find the menu called Settings. Click it.
5. Select General Settings option. (Note: Please wait after selection. It takes time in few
computers to open the General settings.)
6. A wizard appears. Select Component Databases tab (second tab in the top) in the wizard
7. At the bottom, we can see an option called Add ChemSep Database. Click it.
8. Now a window pops up. Here we have to select the ChemSep xml file from ChemSep folder.
To select ChemSep xml file, do the following
a. Click C dive. (Note: Open the drive where you installed Chemsep. Unless specified it
is installed in C drive.)
b. Then click Program Files. Select ChemSep7v01 and click pcd folder.
c. Now select chemsep1.xml file and then click Open.
9. Now the ChemSep database has been successfully added. Please close DWSIM and open it
again.
