Zulkifli Zahari
Zulkifli Zahari is a Mechanical Engineer and has a Masters
Degree from Bradford University, United Kingdom in
Manufacturing System Engineering and Management. He has
been working with SIRIM for 26 years. 18 years of this, in Testing
and Evaluation of Automotive Components. He is currently the
Head of Homologation and Development Testing of the
Automotive Engineering Centre, SIRIM Berhad.
He was among the pioneer group involved in the testing and
development of local automotive components under the
Localization Program of parts and components for the National
Car Project in the 80s through the implementation of the
Mandatory Deletion List by MITI.
He was also instrumental in improving the quality of local
vendors through industrial extension programs, technical
consultancy, testing and development of state-of-the-art test
facilities at the Automotive and Mechanical Test Laboratory of
SIRIM.
Among his many responsibilities, he was appointed by the
Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation, MOSTI Malaysia
as the Chairman for the Automotive Cluster Working Group,
CWG for the Intensified Research Priority Areas for the
formulation of the Strategic Research, SR and Prioritized
Research, PR Areas, under the Seventh Malaysia Plan, RMK7 for
1995 2001.

Prior to his current appointment,

he was a Senior Consultant for
the Marketing and Business
Development Department and
was involved in the
development of new
Businesses, its implementation and
monitoring of both government
and privately funded projects.
In the 90s, he was also responsible
for the management of grants
And allocations from the Ministry of International
Trade and Industries of Malaysia, MITI specifically for
the Technology and Quality Improvement Programs
for Small and Medium Enterprises and Industries, SMIs
in Malaysia under the Industrial Technical Assistance
Fund, ITAF.
His job entailed technical consultancy on mostly
Automotive-related project for SMI.
Throughout his 26 years of service at SIRIM, he has
been actively involved with the local Automotive
Industry and is quite familiar with the development
and issues of this important economic sector.
