GCSO LAW ENFORCEMENT SUMMARY

On Monday, February 8, John B. Polk (44) was arrested for Driving While License
Suspended/Revoked (DWLS/R). Polks arrest was the result of a traffic stop conducted by
Deputy G. Desrosier on State Road (SR) 22 near Parker Farm Road. The vehicle Polk operated
caught Deputy Desrosiers attention when he clocked it speeding 74 mph in a posted 55 mph
zone. Once contact was made with Polk and asked for his drivers license, he informed Deputy
Desrosier he only had an ID card. Polk was transported to the Gulf County Detention Facility
(GCDF).
On February 8, the GCSO executed an order to transport on Jessie J. Thompson (32). Thompson
was transported from the Franklin County Jail for his court appearance on Tuesday, February 9.
The GCSO held a warrant for Failure to Appear, which was served on Thompson. He was
returned to Franklin County at the conclusion of his hearing.
On February 8, the GCSO executed an order to transport on Ashton J. Larry (28). Larry was
transported from the Bay County Jail for his court appearance on Tuesday, February 9. He was
returned to Bay County on Wednesday, February 10.
On Tuesday, February 9, Deputy M. Garrett observed a vehicle he believed to be abandoned on
SR 71 just north of Port St. Joe. As he approached the vehicle, he observed the driver slumped
over the steering wheel. After he knocked on the window the driver, Donta B. Brown (38), woke
up and stated he had ran out of gas and was waiting on his friend to bring fuel. When asked for
his identification, Brown produced a Department of Corrections identification card from the
state of Georgia. It was confirmed Brown did not have a valid drivers license. He was arrested
and transported to the GCDF for No Valid Drivers License.
On February 9, the GCSO received a complaint regarding a burglary of a residence, which was
under construction, in the 8100 block of U.S. Highway 98 in St. Joe Beach. Deputy D. Sanders
responded to investigate the complaint. Several construction tools were stolen from the
residence and included a Bostitch nail gun, two Central Pneumatic nail guns, two Hitachi
finishing nail guns, and a Makita skill saw. The estimated value of the items stolen was
approximately $1,180. Investigator L. Dickey continues to investigate the case.

On February 9, Deputy C. Smith arrested James A. Leavins (30) for DWLS/R in the 200 block of
Woodbrook Drive in Wewahitchka. Leavins was observed driving a vehicle by Deputy Smith,
who had knowledge Leavins license was suspended. He was also wanted by the Jackson County
Sheriffs Office on a Writ of Bodily Attachment. Leavins was transported to the GCDF.
On February 9, the GCSO received a complaint regarding criminal mischief in the 400 block of
Texas Street in Wewahitchka. Deputy M. Peek made contact with the complainant who
discovered vandalism to their vehicle. The body of the vehicle was scratched in numerous
places. Deputy Peek continues to investigate the case.
On Wednesday, February 10, Investigator P. Williams conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle due
to a traffic infraction in the area of U.S. Highway 98 and Avenue A in Port St. Joe. The driver,
William C. Schulte, Jr. (35), did not have a valid drivers license. He was arrested and
transported to the GCDF. Schulte was charged with DWLS/R.
On Thursday, February 11, the GCSO extradited Calvin S. Pryor (68) and Vernetta L. Gibson (31)
from Bay County. Both subjects were arrested and held on warrants for Violation of Probation.
Pryor was on probation for the Sale of Crack Cocaine and Gibson was on probation for Grand
Theft. They were transported to the GCDF.
On February 11, Deputy S. Cook was dispatched to the 200 block of Honeyhill Road in Dalkeith in
reference to theft. The complainant reported the theft of an orange and black, handheld,
Garmin GPS and a camouflage Wildgame Nation game camera card reader. The items were
valued at $600. The case remains under investigation by Deputy Cook.
On Friday, February 12, Deputy M. Peek responded to the 200 block of South Neptune Street in
Indian Pass in reference to a residential burglary. The complainant reported he returned to the
residence and discovered several bottles of liquor missing. Nothing else was removed from the
home. The case remains under investigation.
On February 12, the GCSO received a complaint of the theft of a chain saw in the 100 block of
East Reid Avenue in Wewahitchka. Deputy D. Sanders responded to investigate. The
complainant reported the theft of an 18 inch Husqvarna Rancher chain saw valued at $350. The
theft occurred in the last two months.
On February 12, Deputy P. Baxley responded to the 500 block of Duval Street in Oak Grove in
reference to a domestic disturbance. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Glen P. Rushing
(41). He was transported to the GCDF and charged with Felony Battery (Domestic).
On Saturday, February 13, Deputy C. Harvey arrested Ashley L. Johnson (24) in the 400 block of
Gulf Aire Drive in St. Joe Beach. Johnson was wanted for Violation of Probation. She was on
probation for the Sale of Methamphetamine within 1,000 Feet of a Park. Johnson was
transported to the GCDF.
