Team Purpose: Campaigning: direct lobbying, media work, and community based
campaigning aimed at a) influencing decision makers to effect policy and practice
change, and b) change the beliefs and behaviors of the general public to support the
views of our campaigns

Job Purpose: To recruit, manage and support volunteers to campaign at a variety of


music and cultural events in your city, targeting a broad range of audiences.

In particular, this role will be required to recruit volunteers for Band Tours and work
closely with the local Oxjam teams to develop campaigning at Oxjam events
throughout the month of October.
Reporting Lines: Reports to Regional Events Campaign Coordinator

• Recruitment, supervision and guidance of volunteers in the local area.


• Opportunity to gain valuable experience of events and campaigning.
• Manages own workload without close supervision and works independently on
making decisions and problem solving on routine and occasionally unpredictable
issues/problems.
• Provides creative/innovative solutions to routine problems/tasks and projects.
• Forward planning and management of small projects or elements of large projects.
• Representing Oxfam to external contacts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research opportunities and build relationships with key venues to create an events
schedule that will be interesting to volunteers and help Oxfam to reach a number of
target audiences.
• Recruit, train and lead volunteer Event Campaigners to campaign at events such
as national band tours and local festivals. Work closely with Oxjam Regional
managers and their teams to organise campaigning presence at Oxjam gigs.
• Ensure volunteers are properly briefed on the campaign and responsibilities before
events and a debrief is done after events to monitor and evaluate.
• Deliver on targets such as numbers of petitions signed and new campaigners
recruited.
• Motivate and encourage Outreachers and support them to develop as
campaigners.
• Use a range of on and off line tools to build a sense of community and network
volunteers (E.g. social networks, newsletters, events).
• Participate in regional Outreach training events and initiatives.
• Perform the administrative duties associated with the programme such as
collection and fulfilment of petition sheets.
