"No one puts their children in a boat unless the water is safer than the land" - Warsan Shire

by Ziggy Zeirckaellaeisezabrizkie
The ability to use both our biological instinct and the values applied in a society in determining
our responses and actions to the world around us are two of a lot of things that make us human.
To be successful as a species, the members of that species must have a desire to survive, selfpreservation is keeping yourself alive, either physically or psychologically. The latter includes
mentally or economically healthy. The desire to stay alive is an instinctive one, built into the
psyche of the organism, the desire to stay alive is also a selfish instinct, since it is personal
survival that the organism is seeking.
More than 200,000 people have been killed in Syria since its civil war broke out, more than 4
million Syrians have sought refuge internationally. Syrians fleeing the slaughter in their country
is their humans instinct to survive, it is also their human right, the right to life, and this right
means nobody has the right to end someone elses life, the right to life also means that every
human being has the right to be protected when their life is at risk. However, we have
continuously witnessed countries refusing the settlement of refugees in their regions, whether the
refugees come from a land where bloodshed occurred in daily basis, or from a land with a record
of human rights abuses. Each country has their own excuses, whether its to stabilize the nations
security, to maintain the nations economy stability, or the non-availability of shelters or
financial-aid.
We believe that the refugees will not be depending on financial assistance for too long, because it
is opportunity that they seek. Refugees can be a dependable worker, they are not averse to taking
any sort of job, whatever they need to do to support themselves and their families. Upon arrival,
the refugees are provided with just enough to help them to find housing and a job, get children
enrolled in schools and then a very high majority become contributing, working, tax-paying
members of society. The countries shall also keep in their mind that the refugees are not fleeing
their country full of bloodshed just to make another chain of brutality, and we believe slamming
the door in front of the refugees saying they might cause instability in a nations security is not a
trend to be followed. These people have suffered too much and will just literally give anything to
be able to just experience one day without hearing any explosion, witnessing another bloodshed,
wondering whether they will be able to see the sun again, or to see their childrens smile again in
the next hour, or will they be able to say enough thank you and sorry to their parents. We believe
each country has enough capability to integrate their authorities to supervise these refugees in
order to ensure their residents safety as well as the refugees.
