Introduction
My name is Cao Huu Phi. I am 26 years old and currently, live and work in Ho Chi
minh City, the largest and also the busiest city in Vietnam. I was born in Binh
Thuan province into a farming family, so I understand how hard it is to work as a
farmer. Vietnam is a tropical country which has fertile soil and the climate is ideal
for growing various kinds of produce. However, my parents who spend all day on
the farm, cannot escape poverty in spite of their hardships. It is a common situation
for many farmers in Vietnam, which is largely due to their limited farming
knowledge and techniques. Therefore, I have decided to apply for the internship at
Michael Fields Agricultural Institute (MFAI) so that I can help my parents and
thousands of other farmers, that face the same problems and hardship.

Goals
This will be an invaluable experience for me so I will take every opportunity to
improve myself. I have three main my goals during the internship:
First, I wish to acquire the skills and knowledge to help further my career in
general. By working in an international environment, it will help broaden my
horizons and create new opportunities that would otherwise not be available to me.
Second, I wish to learn advanced agricultural techniques in an overseas country, so
I can improve the productivity in farming and enhance the quality of life in my
hometown. The farmers in my country work hard but still struggle with prices,

output and product quality. With the knowledge obtained, it will allow me to help
them grow better tomatoes, rubber, pepper, dragon fruit, etc.
Third, it will enrich my personal life with the experience of living and learning in
another country.

Experience
My major is construction engineering. I currently manage a team of 30 sellers in
real estate as well as 40 builders. Therefore, I know how to organize and manage
my time effectively. I am also skilled at event planning selling and can handle high
pressure.
I often travel within my own country and neighbouring countries in South East
Asia, which allows me to meet with different kinds of people and gain insight into
various cultures.
I regularly attend domestic and international conferences on agriculture and
construction and have a great passion for both fields where skills education is
limited.
I have volunteered to help people in the most remote areas throughout Vietnam.
During those times, I could see the potential of my country which is rich in natural
resources and the hard-working people. However, Vietnam is still underdeveloped
with its backward agriculture. With the knowledge obtained from your center, I
will have a burning desire to succeed in contributing to my country's economy and
create a close-knit bond between the companies and the farmers. Bringing produce
to markets has always been a challenge for Vietnamese farmers, and the link
between farmers and agricultural companies is not effective. I hope to help change
this.

such a wonderful environment.
Specific Program Questions:
I researched about the center and also have some friends who are interns there. So I
do not have any questions currently.

Health requirement:
I play soccer, volleyball and table tennis every day so both my mental and physical
health are great. I climbed to the top of Fangsipan, which is the highest in Vietnam
recently. It means that I have every confidence in my health and endurability in
another country.
