1.ViewPowerProOverview
1.1.Introduction
ViewPowerProisanadvancedUPSmanagementsoftwarewhichisperfect
for homeusersand enterprises. It can monitor andmanage from one to
multiple UPSs in a networked environment including LAN, INTERNET and
RS485basednetworks.IntegratedwithShutdownWizard,itcannotonly
preventdatalossfrompoweroutageandsafelyshutdownsystems,butalso
storeprogrammingdataandscheduledshutdownUPSs.AllUPSworking
dataandeventrecordscanbekeptinlocaldatabasesystem.

1.2.Structure
ViewPowerProincludesmonitorservice,WEBserviceandtrayservice.
Monitor service: It is the core of ViewPower Pro software. Monitor
serviceautomaticallyfindUPSsinthenetworks,storeUPSworkingdata
and event information. It will communicate with UPS, record events,
notifyuserswithevents,andexecutecommandaccordingtotheusers

request.
WEBservice:ItoffersHttporHttpsserviceforlocalorremoteusers.
UserscanmanageandmonitorUPSsforrealtimestatus,information
andmodifyUPSsettingparametersviabrowsersuchasIEandFirefox.
Tray service: It is management tool for ViewPower Pro software. It
includesstartmonitor,stopmonitor,SNMPmanagerandsoon.

2.3. SoftwareUninstall
Please choose Start>>All Programs>>ViewPower Pro>>Uninstall. Then
followtheonscreeninstructiontouninstallthesoftware.Beforeuninstall
software, you must stop all software programs first and then log in as
Administrator!Otherwise,itcan'tbeuninstalledcompletely.

3.ServiceTrayApplication
The Installer will leave a shortcut icon on your desktop. Simply click the
shortcut. Then it will start the software and display an orange plug icon
locatedintaskbar.TolaunchtheGUI,doubleclicktheplugiconorchoose
Open Monitor by clicking right button of the mouse. Refer to below
diagram.
Or, use the Start Menu method Start>>All Programs>>ViewPower
Pro>>ViewPowerPro.

3.1. StartMonitor
This software will be automatically activated when installing it as service
application. At this time, users can remote monitor UPSs through web
browsereventhoughusersdonotlogininoperationsystem.
Ifserviceapplicationcannotberegisteredsuccessfully,whenstartingup
trayservice,itwillautomaticallyactivatemonitoringapplication.Ifitsfailed
orstoppedmanually,simplyclickStartMonitortoactivateit.
StartMonitorwillcheckifmonitoringapplicationisregisteredasservice

application.Ifitssuccessfully,thissoftwarewillbeactivatedfromservice
mode.Ifnot,thissoftwarewillbeactivatedasmonitoringmode.Userscan
identifytheapplicationmodefromtrayiconasbelow:

SNMPdevicesintheLAN.
ClicktheSNMPManagertoaccessSNMPmanagementtool.

ThedefaultvalueinwindowlistwouldbecurrentPCIPaddress.Forexample,
ifIPaddressofcurrentPCis192.168.102.10,itwilldisplay192.168.102
inlistwhenfirstenablingSNMPManager.

If it is required to restart the IP addresses of devices, please select the

NOTE: The length of password is 8~15 digits. If the password change is
appliedforallSNMPdevices,itwillbeconsistentforpasswordsofallSNMP

trap addresses and 8 dynamic trap addresses. It will default define host
computer with software installed as a dynamic trap address. If
communication failure occurs between SNMP card and host computer for

accessible from tray menu. If communication port of Https is fixed in

If choosing Http, Https selection will not be accessible and port

Configuration

5.8.1.

PasswordSetting

Its password configuration for administrator only. The default user name
and password is administrator. Before operating and configuring the
software, please login and modify the default password first for security
concern.UserscanonlybrowseUPSstatusandinformationasGueststatus
without login as an Administrator. Guest can NOT control or execute any
setting.
Step1 SelectConfiguration>>Password.RefertoDiagram51.

Step2 Enter old password and type twice new password to modify
passwordforadministrator.(Thepasswordshouldbeatleast6digits)Then
clickApplybuttontosuccessfullymodifypasswordforadministrator.

Grouparea

Select Configuration>>group area, user can assign monitored UPSs into


differentgroupsforbestmanagement.ViewPowerProhasadefaultgroup
calledUnassigned.WhenaUPSisdetected,itwillautomaticallyputinthe
Unassignedgroup.Usersareabletonotonlycreateandcustomizegroups
here,butalsoassigngroupsinUPSsetting.Refertodiagram52.

groups for monitored UPSs. When a new UPS is detected, it will

NOTE: Its required to plugin GSM Modem if sending SMSto mobile
phone.

Email

ThisfeatureenablestheconfigurationtosendalarmmailbySMTPserver.
Fortheeventreceivinglist,pleaseconfigureinEventActioncolumn.
Tousethisfunction,theemailservicemustbecorrectconfiguredonthe
computer.Allvaluesinthisfunctionpagearedefaultempty.Thisactioncant
beexecutedwithouttheSMTPinformation,emailaccount,andpassword.
Besides,thesenderaccountshouldbeallowedforSMTP/POP3forwarding.
