Why is International Students tuition expensive?
: devoted son of entire U.S.
Tens of thousands of students from foreign countries are coming to American
universities every year. There are numerous different reasons why International students
choose to come to the United States; 1. Excellent academic programs 2. Career-minded
learning opportunities 3. Specialized libraries and resources. 4. Advanced-level English
language programs (Kim). As for me, I came to U.S because it was clear that I would know
the language programs and have career-minded opportunities. However, now that it actually
has taken place I came the U.S, I realized that learning English and American culture costs a
whopping amount of money. For example, residents pay round two thousand dollars,
however, international students pay more than six thousand dollars.

according to data collected by the Institute of International Education.

aid rather than domestic students that apply to exemption. As U.S college tuition is being
raised, high school students also decreased to rate of admission application. At this time, U.S.
College can only be more actively to attract foreign students. Out-of-state and international
students who pay full tuition and sometimes even additional tuition have kept these
institutions in the black. According to the American Western Interstate Commission for
Higher Education (WICHE), it announced that the number of high school students will
decrease, it will have more difficult by gathering freshmen for 10 years from now. This
increase is also due to the American College of foreign students selected personnel were
heading to straighten marketing activities for foreign applicants. According to the Association
of International Education in New York, it announced that they do contribute to the amount
that the US economy $ 22.7 billion, or an enormous they affect a significant impact on the
US economy also foreign
students. Universities and entire
metropolitan areas, really, are
realizing that in the short term
they bring a lot of money into the
economy. The U.S. higher
education system is becoming
more and more dependent on foreign students to help foot their bills each year.

International students are not eligible for public financial aid, whether thats Pell grants or
student loans. They are not residents, so they pay out-of-state tuition ratestwo or three
times higher than what resident tuition would be. Inside Higher Ed reports that some
campuses also charge an international student fee, ranging from $500 a semester at places
like Utah State to a proposed $1000 add on by the Salt Lake Community College.
As Institute of International Education (IIE) explains, Their tuition dollars come as
welcome relief to public colleges that are under pressure to become more entrepreneurial.
International students arent voters, so theres very little pushback about charging them more
money when there are shortfalls elsewhere. Some schools use the additional funds for
language and support services, but many others just add these fees into their general budget.
International students support and help school budgets and contributing billions of
dollars to the U.S. economy. There are growing complaints that the influx of foreign student
is crowding local students out of their own state schools. Meanwhile, at least some Chinese
KIM
students are complaining that American universities exploit them by charging extra fees. Its
difficult to argue against the valuable opportunities for cultural exchange and public
diplomacy that international education provides.
