PARKING AT FIRST PRES

Part of making our church a welcoming place for guests is
to make our campus as accessible as possible.
And the good news is, the church shares ownership in a
parking garage across the street, and helps to maintain
it so you can easily find free parking every Sunday and
during the week.
We leave street and on-campus parking for visitors, seniors
and those who need extra accessibility to the buildings.
If you are a church member and would like to purchase
a parking card for the church garage for $10, please stop
by the lobby desk at Edington Ministry Center during the
week.

NOTES

traditional
W O R S H I P

Youll note the addition of the crown of thorns to the

cross this morning. It is a stark reminder that there was
nothing virtual about the crucifixion and death of Jesus.
In a world where the virtual masquerades as reality,
sharp thorns drive home the truth: Jesus Christ suffered
beyond measure on the cross. Death by crucifixion
lasted anywhere from six hours to four days. In Jesus
case, he was beaten so severely that he expired within
about six hours. The only perfect man who ever lived
gave his life for billions of imperfect people. Gods
standard is perfection. The cross and crown of thorns
proclaim that sin is real and that God views it as a matter
of eternal life and eternal death. We are physical bodies
who have gathered today to worship a living Savior
who suffered, died, rose, and ascended to the Father
in heaven. There is nothing virtual about any of those
things. Join your heart and voice to proclaim the truth of
our great Savior. By the way, Jesus is coming back and it
wont be virtual!

Just 15 months after beginning our ARISE AND
BUILD Capital Campaign, First Pres celebrates a
debt-free future. Our church familys generosity
through the capital campaign doesnt end here.
What comes next?
A focus on campus infrastructure. While not
glamorous, repairs to our roof are much needed on
multiple buildings. Improvements to our IT systems
and new software will vastly improve staff efficiency,
and free valuable time for ministry.
Renovating Student Ministry. Creating a welcoming
environment so parents and students know they
have arrived is key, with a functional multi-purpose
gathering area, updated technology and AV resources,
and welcoming spaces for small groups and study.
Continuing in mission. Weve already been able to
tithe to great mission purposes, including Mission
Emanuel, Nehemiah Project, Madagascar Initiative
and our FOUR12 Student Mentoring Program. More to
come.
Equipping in ministry. Two mission goals of the
campaign are already underway. Our center for faith
and work is taking shape through a Gotham class and
a number of identity-building meetings. We are also
in conversation with church planters in Edinburgh,
Scotland, through our relationship with Redeemer
Presbyterians City to City program. Pray for wisdom as
we move ahead!
