Intro and Definition

Nowadays, the Internet has undergone a phenomenal global
growth and has had a tremendous effect on the lives of people. It
is nothing to say that it has became such an important datagathering and communication source that we must have in our
daily lives. Due to this phenomenon of the Internet leading to the
huge number of crimes commited on the Internet and these
crimes called Cybercrime. (So) What is Cybercrime?
Cybercrime, at the moment, is a fast-going area of crime
exploiting the speed, convenience and anonymity of the Internet
to commit a diverse range of criminal activities. In detail, it is
crime conducted via the Internet or some other computer works.
Law Enforcement generally makes a distinction between to main
types of Internet-related crime Cybercrime. The first one is
Advanced Cybercrime (high-tech crime): sophisticated attacks
against hardware and software. The second one is Cyber-enabled
crime: many traditional crimes have taken a new turn with the
advent of the Internet. (such as: crimes against children, financial
crimes, terrorism)
2.History of Cybercrime
Before we getting into the crore of the Cybercrime, we will
present to you a brief of Cybercrime history. Cybercrime first
started with hackers trying to break into computer networks.
Some did it just for the thrill of accessing high-level security
networks, but others sought to gain sensitive, classified material.
Eventually, criminals started to infect computer systems with

computer viruses, which led to breakdowns on personal and

business computers. Computer viruses are forms of code or
malware programs that can copy themselves and damage or
destroy data and systems. When computer viruses are used on a
large scale, like with bank, government or hospital networks,
these actions may be categorized as cyberterrorism. Computer
hackers also engage in phishing scams, like asking for bank
account numbers, and credit card theft.
3. Type of cybercrime
There are many types of cyber crime; however, we are going to
categorize them into three main common types: Hacking, Virus
Spreading, Child Soliciting and Abusing. Firstly, lets talk about
Hacking. Hacking is a term used in computing that can describe
several types of persons who seek and exploit weaknesses of
computer system or computer network. It resulted in the
destruction of 4000 websites, 572 hours of delaying and the loss
of 6.5 billion US dollars. Secondly, another type of cybercrime is
Virus Spreading as known as Virus. It exists in form of code or
malware programs that can copy themselves and damage or
destroy data and system. And the last type of cybercrime is Child
Soliciting and Abusing. This type of crime is listed in one of the
most serious crime in the world by the Law Enforcement. In this
type of cybercrime, criminals solicit minors via chat rooms for the
purpose of child pornography and kidnapping.

4. Preventing Cybercrime
Well, there is no way for us to completely stop cybercrime from
happenning but there is nothing wrong to say that we have plenty
of methods to prevent cybercrime. First of all, being vigilante is
one of the most important factor whenever you start surfing the
Internet. Remember to secure your computer by active the
firewall and use anti-virus/malware software. Why? Because they
will help you block connections to unknown/not varified website
and they will eliminate many type of viruses. Do not download
any unknown files on the Internet because they contain viruses
that even anti-virus software could not detect. About preventing
Child Sociliting and Abusing, parents and relatives should educate
their children that not to talk and trust anybody that you have no
idea about on the Internet. The best solution is that keep them far
away from the Internet until they fully grow up.
