European Regional Economic Growth Index
ranked Nottingham third in the UK behind
London and Birmingham for wealth, gro w t h
and business environment. It shows cities and
regions across Europe that have the greatest
economic growth potential over the short-to-
medium term, and so where demand for
investment is likely to be strongest. It shows
Nottingham-Derby ranked 30th - up by 26 ranks
on last year and so one of the most impro v e d
cities in the UK, along with Birmingham and
Card i ff .
Reaching a carbon-neutral summit
Summit organisers are aiming to deliver a
carbon-neutral event. The Nottingham
Declaration on Climate Change, which has to
date been signed by more than 200 local
authorities, was an important first step in c i t i e s
taking the lead on sustainability. At the the
Summit, the Core Cities will set out joint plans
for tackling climate change. Councillor Jon
Collins, Leader of Nottingham City Council said:
“This Summit will put the spotlight on issues we
feel are important in Nottingham, such as the
transformation of our neighbourhoods and
the creation of communities which benefit from a
renewed emphasis on cities as the most
sustainable places to live.”
