2009 SAM AWARDS

Finalists Announced
The Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Calgary Region is proud to announce the full list of finalists for
the 2009 SAM Awards.
The SAM Awards, now in its 23rd year, celebrate innovation and excellence in the Calgary Region home
building industry.
The winners will receive their awards at the SAM Awards Gala on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Telus
Convention Centre. The top 5 finalists will be featured during this evening, with the exception of the Sales
Achievement Awards, where all nominees receive acknowledgement.
“This year’s entries were simply outstanding, particularly those of the Finalists,” says Carol Oxtoby, Co-
Chair of the SAM Awards Committee.” Her counterpart, Shane Wenzel continues, “Our members may
compete annually to outdo each other, but more significantly, what they consistently outdo is their own
efforts year over year.”
What does this mean to the consumer? From suppliers of products to service providers, the trades, builders
and developers; each feels the pressure to produce or provide innovative new products, concepts and services
to compete with each other and capture the attention of the industry, media and consumers. This is how the
SAM Awards feed the industry’s highly competitive and innovative spirit. New homes, new communities and
virtually every component of each has evolved substantially over the years. You can safely assume that
popular features found in new homes today were once unique new features included in a SAM Award entry.
The Canadian Home Builders’ Association – Calgary Region presents the following SAM Awards categories
(the number of awards in each category follows in brackets): Advertising & Marketing Awards (8), Developer
Awards (3), Industry Achievement Awards (1), Multi-Family Awards (11), New Home Awards (16), Builders
Choice: Partner Awards (6), Renovator Awards (6), Sales Achievement Awards (4), Sales & Information
Centre Awards (2), and the GRAND SAM Awards (5). The GRAND SAM Awards are presented to the
Builder, Renovator and Partner that have demonstrated a superior achievement in design, sales, advertising
and/or service.
