Angel Investments by Business Immigrants to Canada

The Angel Investment community in Canada is represented by the National Angel Capital
Organization. Many Angel Investors are immigrants to Canada, some of whom came to Canada as
Business Immigrants.

There are three classes of Business Immigrant to Canada: Investors, Entrepreneurs and Self Employed
Persons.

Investors
The Immigrant Investor Program seeks to attract experienced business people to invest
C$400,000 into Canada’s economy. Investors must:
• show that they have business experience
• have a minimum net worth of C$800,000 that was obtained legally and
• make a C$400,000 investment.
Your investment is managed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and is
guaranteed by the Canadian provinces that use it to create jobs and help their economies
grow.
CIC will return your C$400,000 investment, without interest, about five years and two
months after payment.

In Ontario the C$400,000 investments have accumulated to total about C$1 Billion, earning about
C$ 23M per annum in interest.

NACO
The NACO wishes to attract Business Immigrants to become Angel Investors. This process may
begin in the Countries from which most immigrants emigrate.

It may begin with an invitation for business immigrants to invest in Canada before their departure.
NACO is interested in developing a Fund or Financial Instruments that will attract such investment
flows.

Business Immigrants may visit Canada to assess conditions here prior to landing as an immigrant.
