THE SHULAMMITE REMNANT EXPOSED

My breasts are like watchtowers. (Song of Solomon 8:10, Hoffnung fr Alle)
The Song of Solomon reports on the enduring love the Shulammite felt for a shepherd
and on King Solomons unsuccessful attempts
to gain her affection. She firmly refused to
follow King Solomon and become his bride.
What meaning does this prophetic drama have
for our day?
The anointed Jehovahs Witnesses who still
live on earth form the Shulammite Remnant.
(Sing Praises to Jehovah, Song 11; see also The
Watchtower, December 1, 1957, page 721) And
the Greater Solomon [is] Jesus Christ, now
ruling as heavenly King. (The Watchtower,
May 1, 2003, page 21) Hence it is hardly surprising that the members of the anointed remnant are also not interested in following Jesus
Christ. Their love is directed at humans who
honor them and go from house to house for
them.
In fact, the anointed Jehovahs Witnesses
are but one of many groups who claim to be the
greater Solomons bride: There may be sixty
queens and eighty concubines and maidens without number. (Song of Solomon
6:8) But Jehovahs Witnesses fancy themselves
as specially privileged; they believe that they
have the only true religion and that others
form of worship is false. Our Kingdom Ministry, May 1999, page 2.
Appointed over all belongings

The Shulammite said: The sons of my

own mother appointed me the keeper of
the vineyards, although my vineyard, one
that was mine, I did not keep. (Song of
Solomon 1:6) The anointed Jehovahs Witnesses consider themselves as sons of His free
heavenly organization, the Jerusalem above,
their mother. (The Watchtower, March 1,
1973, page 141) Hence the sons of their own
mother are Jesus Christ and the already dead
anointed ones compare The Watchtower,
March 15, 1985, page 14.

The Shulammite explained that she was appointed the keeper of her brothers vineyards
although she could not even keep her own one in
order. Likewise do Jehovahs Witnesses claim
that their anointed remnant in 1919 was appointed over all Jesus belongings. (The Watchtower, May 15, 1997, page 15) That is really odd,
considering that prior to 1919, the Bible Students, as Jehovahs Witnesses were then known,
had to be released from a form of spiritual captivity to the ideas and practices of false religion.
Although having rejected such false teachings as
the Trinity and the immortal soul, they were
still tainted by Babylonish practices. Many had
developed a self-righteous attitude in character
development. Some were exalting creatures.
Without any Biblical basis, they were observing
birthdays and Christmas. The cross was still
prominent in their thinking. Others sought
the respectability accorded Christendom. The
Watchtower, May 1, 1989, page 3.
The Shulammite boasted: The king has
brought me into his interior rooms! (Song
of Solomon 1:4) According to the March 1,
2001 Watchtower, the interior rooms of the
prophecy likely have to do with the tens of
thousands of congregations of Jehovahs people
around the world. (page 21) Jehovahs Witnesses claim to be directly commissioned by the
king, Jesus Christ. compare The Watchtower, March 1, 1998, page 14.

Jesus flock

The Shulammite asked her shepherd: Tell

me where you rest your sheep at midday." (Song of Solomon 1:7, NIV) But rather
than telling her where to find his sheep, he
ordered her: Graze your young goats.
(Song of Solomon 1:8, NIV) In a similar way,
the Shulammite remnant would love to tend
Jesus sheep, but instead, their followers prove
to be goats and as such they will depart
into everlasting cutting-off, right into the
everlasting fire prepared for the Devil and his
angels. Matthew 25:32, 41, 46.
On one occasion the Shulammite said: Do
not you look at me because the sun has
caught sight of me. (Song of Solomon 1:6)
Similarly the Shulammite remnant claims to
be enlightened by Jesus Christ, the greater
Sun. According to the August 1, 1981 Watchtower, the righteous ones shining as brightly
as the sun in the kingdom of their Father refers to the enlightened condition of such
anointed Christians on earth, where they are
shining as illuminators in the world. (page 25)
They pretend that Jehovah continues to shed
light on them. The Watchtower, February 15,
2006, page 30.
Marelike qualities

To a mare of mine in the chariots of

Pharaoh I have likened you, explained
Solomon to the Shulammite. According to the
German issue of Encyclopaedia Wikipedia,
mares tend to bite each other during hierarchic
encounters which led to the German term
Stutenbissigkeit, meaning mare bitchiness.
The encyclopedia then mentions how this looks
like in the field: implying bad intentions,
stealing good ideas, blunt exposing, ignoring,
being silent and allegations. Often it involves
self-imposed bans.
All that can be applied to the members of the
anointed Shulammite remnant. They incessantly imply that their followers would do too little
for Jehovah (meaning for them), for example

with the Theocratic Court. (Informer, September 1955; see The Witchtower, May 2009, page 7)
They steal good ideas, i. e. the exposition of the
book of Revelation from occultist Johannes
Greber. see The New Testament translated by
Johannes Greber, Appendix.
The March 1, 1994 Watchtower admits:
Exposure of the clergy by the Jeremiah class
has been powerful. (page 11) Also being silent when cases of child abuse are revealed
and allegations against publishers with too
little field service hours are common within the
Watchtower organization. Furthermore there
are many self-imposed bans that have no
Scriptural basis.
Comfortable life

The Shulammite said: As long as the

king is at his round table my own spikenard has given out its fragrance. (Song of
Solomon 1:12) She did not resemble the
faithful and discreet slave but rather the evil
slave of Jesus parable, who said: My master
is delaying. (Matthew 24:45, 48) She used the
time that the king spent at his round table to
waste his wealth. She surely could not afford
real spikenard a small plant growing in the
Himalaya on her own. Centuries later, Mary
poured costly spikenard oil worth about a
years wages for an ordinary laborer on Jesus.
The members of the anointed Shulammite
remnant act similarly. For example, they used
donations to build the house Beth-Sarim in
California, supposedly as a dwelling for Abraham, Joseph, David and other faithful men
whose resurrection they expected. But in actual fact, Joseph F. Rutherford, the president of
the Watchtower Society and leader of the Shulammite remnant, moved there. He lived in
this mansion until his death. Shortly thereafter, Beth-Sarim was sold because it had fully
served its purpose. The Watchtower, December 15, 1947, quoted from Jehovahs Witnesses

The Song of Solomon continues: What is

this thing that is coming up from the wilderness like columns of smoke, being perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, even
with every sort of scent powder of a trader? (Song of Solomon 3:6) The columns of
smoke remind of an incident in the book of
Revelation: Out of the smoke locusts came
forth upon the earth. (Revelation 9:3) The
May 1, 1992 Watchtower explains: These locusts picture the anointed remnant of Christians who, now in the Lords day, go forth to
devastate Christendoms pastures. page 11.
So this thing that is coming up from the
wilderness like columns of smoke is the Shulammite remnant. Again myrrh and frankincense are mentioned, showing that the anointed ones live in relative luxury. They may not
own very much, but they are cherished by their
followers and supported with all comforts of
life.
The Song of Solomon says regarding the
Shulammite remnants residence: It is his
couch. Sixty mighty men are all around
it, from the mighty men of Israel, all of
them in possession of a sword, being
taught in warfare, each one with his
sword upon his thigh. (Song of Solomon
3:7, 8) Indeed, most anointed ones do not exert
themselves in field service anymore. They quasi
sit on the couch, while sixty mighty men
the thousands of pioneers do the actual work.
These are in possession of a sword [of the
spirit] that they keep always handy, and they
are taught in [theocratic] warfare. Ephesians 6:17.

Stench and lacking foresight

Though the Shulammite put costly scent

on, Solomon noticed: Your hair is like a
drove of goats. (Song of Solomon 4:1) That
was not quite a compliment. According to the
British Goat Society, some goats have a very
strong distinctive smell. The odour is very
strong and difficult to eliminate from skin and
clothing. The Story of the goatfish in the river
Oder says: The goat was for her people a symbol of uncleanness, stench and stupidity. Since
the Shulammite dealt with sheep and goats all
day, she surely smelled accordingly. The modern Shulammite class too applies the Apostle
Pauls words to itself: We are a dreadful smell
of death and doom. 2 Corinthians 2:16, NLT.
Solomon added: Your eyes are those of
doves, behind your veil. (Song of Solomon
4:1) That seems like a compliment at first
glance, since doves can see up to 35 kilometers
far. But unfortunately the Shulammite did not
make use of this ability but rather hid her eyes
behind her veil. And of course one cannot see
very well through a veil that might explain
why all of the Shulammite remnants predictions failed up to now.
However, the veil reveals something else
about the Shulammite remnant. The book Your
Youth Getting the Best out of It says: When
Judah came along, the record says that he at
once took her [Tamar] for a harlot, because she
had covered her face with the veil. Her dress
gave her the appearance of a prostitute of that
time. (page 53) So back then, prostitutes could
be identified by a veil (compare The Watchtower, November 1, 1972, page 666) Also the
Watchtower organization led by the Shulammite remnant has practiced spiritual fornication by making alliances with the political
elements of this world like the United Nations or the OSCE. The Watchtower, June 15,
1972, page 357.

Spiritual drunkenness

The Shulammite said about her lover: He

brought me into the house of wine. (Song
of Solomon 2:4) On another occasion, he said
to her: Your navel roll is a round bowl. Let
not the mixed wine be lacking from it.
(Song of Solomon 7:3) They both obviously
made good use of alcohol, a gift from God.
(Psalm 104:15) In this regard, they were like
the drunkards of Ephraim against which
Isaiah warned. Isaiah 28:1, 3.
The June 1, 1991 Watchtower explains:
The drunkards of Ephraim were really the
drunkards of Israel. Were Isaiahs prophecies fulfilled only on ancient Israel and Judah?
By no means. Both Jesus and the apostle Paul
quoted his words about spiritual drunkenness
and applied them to the religious leaders of
their time. Today, too, a situation like that
in Isaiahs time has arisen. (page 11, 13) The
religious leaders of Israel were spiritually
drunk back then, and so is the anointed [Shulammite] remnant of the Israel of God in our
time. (Isaiahs Prophecy Light for All Mankind, volume 2, page 168) They too belong in
a metaphorical sense to those staying a long
time with the wine, those coming in to search
out mixed wine. Proverbs 23:30.
Wine has a soporific effect too. The Shulammites palate [was] like the best wine
that is softly flowing over the lips of
sleeping ones. (Song of Solomon 7:9) The
members of the Shulammite remnant arrange
an abundance of meetings and reading material
to keep their followers busy and to prevent them
from waking up from their spiritual sleep. Since
the members of the faithful and discreet slave
are also recipients of the spiritual food that
they provide, they too are affected by the spiritual sleep. This way, they also imitate the Shulammite who frankly admitted: I am asleep.
Song of Solomon 5:2.

Jesus Christ is the bread of life the living

bread. (John 6:48, 51) By contrast Solomon
said to the Shulammite: Your belly is a heap
of wheat. (Song of Solomon 7:2) But a
heap of wheat is still far away from a bread
that shows how far the Shulammite remnant
is from Jesus Christ.
The shepherd provides another clue why
the Shulammite was in a bad shape spiritually:
As a lily among the thorns, so is my
friend. (Song of Solomon 2:1, 2, YLT)
Hence the modern Shulammite remnant is
among the thorns too and what happens
according to Jesus with someone who is sown
among the thorns? The anxiety of this system
of things and the deceptive power of riches
choke the word. Matthew 13:22.
Feminine charms

The Shulammite said: As a bag of myrrh

my dear one is to me; between my breasts
he will spend the night. (Song of Solomon
1:13) Since she was not married when she
spoke these words, she cannot have referred to
her literal breasts. No, the breasts obviously
picture something very important, for they are
mentioned seven times in the Song of Solomon
more than in any other Bible book.
Luckily the Shulammite herself explains
what is illustrated by her breasts: My breasts
are like Watchtowers. (Song of Solomon
8:10, Hoffnung fr Alle) Her shepherd adds:
Your two breasts are like two young ones,
the twins of a female gazelle. (Song of
Solomon 4:5) The breasts clearly depict the
two magazines The Watchtower and Awake!
that are usually placed and read together like
twins. But why are they called twins of a
female gazelle?

The book Holy Spirit The Force Behind

the Coming New Order! says about the firstcentury members of the Shulammite remnant:
As anointed ones, they were obliged to imitate
the example of Jesus Christ. (page 123) But

Gazelles can run very fast, up to 45 mph.

They are also known for jumping and changing
their position rapidly. The same can be said
about the magazines published by the Shulammite remnant. An example is the interpretation of the generation of Matthew 24:34:
First it was applied to all people who had seen
the invisible sign in 1878, then to all anointed
Christians, then to all people who had consciously witnessed the year 1914. Later it was
applied to all people who lived in the year 1914
anyway, then to all people who were no Jehovahs Witnesses, and now it is again applied to
all anointed Christians.
The Shulammite frequently describes her
dear one or beloved one, a shepherd boy. The
modern antitype of the Shulammites dear one
is the kind of people who believe everything that
comes out of the Shulammite remnants mouth.
How do such people spend the night between
the Shulammites breasts? Since the breasts
are the magazines The Watchtower and Awake!,
this passage refers to people who stay awake
until late at night to read this precious literature.
Who else belongs to the Shulammite remnants dear ones? The sound of my dear
one! Look! This one is coming, climbing
upon the mountains, leaping upon the
hills. (Song of Solomon 2:8) They join in
Isaiahs words: How comely upon the mountains are the feet of the one bringing good
news. (Isaiah 52:7) The modern Shulammite
class likes zealous publishers.
The Shulammite said: Do come, O my
dear one, let us go forth to the field. Do
let us rise early. (Song of Solomon 2:11,
12) On behalf of the Shulammite remnant, the
elders use similar words to invite the publishers to the meetings for field service.
It can happen that a sister is there who already placed all her magazines. The Shulammite once was in a similar situation, so
that her brothers said about her: We have a
little sister that does not have any
breasts. (Song of Solomon 8:8) But usually
another sister can help out and say: The new
ones as well as the old I have treasured
up for you. Song of Solomon 7:13.

The Shulammites lover was gazing

through the windows and said to his future
wife: Rise up, you girl companion of mine
and come away The downpour itself
is over, it has gone its way Rise up,
come, O girl companion of mine, my beautiful one, and come away. (Song of Solomon 2:9-13) The members of the modern Shulammite class love publishers who do not only
preach the good news themselves but also encourage their wives to join them.
Where do the Shulammite remnant and the
great crowd that is associated with them look
for such people who could join them? The Shulammite said: Let me rise up, please, and
go round about in the city; in the streets
and in the public squares let me seek the
one whom my soul has loved. (Song of
Solomon 3:2) Likewise do Jehovahs Witnesses go round about in the city, in the streets
and in the public squares to search for sheeplike ones. 1976 Yearbook of Jehovahs Witnesses, page 56.
But their search is rarely crowned with
success. In the service year 2008, publishers
in Germany spent on average 7084 hours,
placed 5977 magazines and made 3359 return
visits to lead one person to baptism as a Jehovahs Witness. The Shulammite made similar
experiences: I sought him, but I did not
find him. (Song of Solomon 3:2) But some
publishers are skilled in blinding the minds of
the unbelievers so that they take the Watchtower for the illumination of the glorious good
news about the Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:4)
My dear one is dazzling, said the Shulammite likewise. Song of Solomon 5:10.

Thats why they sometimes find someone

who gets into a discussion often people who
are in a crisis and hence are easy prey for a cult.
The Shulammite showed how to deal with such
a person: I found the one whom my soul
has loved. I grabbed hold of him, and I
would not let go of him, until I had brought
him into my mothers house and into the
interior room. (Song of Solomon 3:4) When
Jehovahs Witnesses once gained a foothold at
an interested person, they will not let him go in
a hurry. They will bother him until they have
brought him into their mothers house, that
is the house of their motherlike organization,
the Kingdom Hall. (The Watchtower, June 1,
1998, page 23) They want to bring him by all
means into the interior rooms that have to
do with the tens of thousands of congregations
of Jehovahs people around the world.

inders ooze with red ink that looks like liquid

myrrh. But the major part of the ink is black
like the raven, and it is not only used for
[Watch-]Towers but also for other magazines
and books.

A total of 36,175 people were baptized in

Germany from 1999 to 2008, yet the average
publisher count decreased by 3,592. Even the
Shulammite noticed: Many waters themselves are not able to extinguish love.
(Song of Solomon 8:7) Indeed, the waters of
baptism are not able to extinguish the love
that sincere people have for the truth. Sooner
or later they recognize that they were hoodwinked by a delusion and back out or leave the
Watchtower organization.

Solomon said to the Shulammite: You are

altogether beautiful and there is no
defect in you. (Song of Solomon 4:7) The
members of the Shulammite remnant accept in
their organization only people who find no
defect in them. Their followers are advised: If
we fully recognize him [Jehovah] as being a
Grand Instructor, we will not doubt or criticize
the methods of instruction Jehovahs faithful
and discreet slave class is using today. (The
Watchtower, January 1, 1986, page 30) And the
June 15, 1996 Watchtower said that the complaining of some ungodly men may even
extend to criticizing publications of the faithful
slave. page 21.

Besides field service, there is another way

of winning the Shulammite remnants favor.
The Shulammite said prophetically about
someone who makes use of this option: His
black hair is like the raven. His eyes are
by the channels of water. His cheeks are
towers of scented herbs. His lips are
lilies, dripping with liquid myrrh. His
hands are cylinders of gold. Song of
Solomon 5:11-14.
Such a person would be by the channels of
water, that is where the water of life is quasi
bottled or printed into the magazines The
Watchtower and Awake! at Bethel. His
hands control the print cylinders that print
literature more precious than gold. The cyl-

Self-aggrandizement

Solomon said regarding the Shulammite:

A garden barred in is my sister a well
of fresh water. Let its perfumes trickle.
(Song of Solomon 4:12, 15, 16) That can be
applied to the Shulammite remnant, especially
to the members of the Governing Body. They
are a garden barred, for their sessions are top
secret. Their followers however think that the
faithful and discreet slave would be a well of
fresh water [of life], and by distributing his
writings they would be diffusing the fragrance
of the knowledge of God. The Watchtower,
July 15, 1990, page 10.

Many waters themselves are

not able to extinguish love.

As the January 15, 1990 Watchtower shows,

they view people who criticize them as apostates who have been going back to Christendoms doctrinal vomit. (page 28) Using the
Shulammites words they advise the elders:
Grab hold of the foxes for us, the little
foxes that are making spoil of the vineyards. (Song of Solomon 2:15) These alleged shepherds are asked to grab hold of
foxlike Jehovahs Witnesses who tend to criticizing the faithful and discreet slave and to
expel them. The Shulammite remnants insistence on exclusive devotion is as unyielding as Sheol is. Song of Solomon
8:6.
People like Professor S. A. Ellis however
find a ready welcome. He said about Charles
Taze Russell, the founder of the modern Shulammite class: As a logician and theologian he
is doubtless without a peer today. In his research for Biblical Truth and harmony he is
without a parallel in this Age. Without a blemish he towers like a giant, unmatched.
(quoted according to The Finished Mystery,
page 125) That was foretold in the Song of
Solomon, when Solomon praised the Shulammite: O you most beautiful one!
Song of Solomon 1:8.
But it was Solomon himself who wrote,
quoting the mother of King Lemuel: Prettiness may be vain. (Proverbs 31:30) Jesus
said that Christians are sheep. (Luke 12:32;
John 21:15) And the Shulammite said: I am
black. (Song of Solomon 1:5, ASV) Hence
the modern Shulammite remnant consists of
black sheep. Their professed prettiness does
only exist on the pages of their magazines.
The Shulammites dear one begged her:
Let me hear your voice, for your voice is
pleasurable. (Song of Solomon 2:14) The
Shulammite remnant, the faithful and discreet slave, also likes people who listen to its
voice. They even claim the voices of God and
Jesus could be heard through them: Gods
modern-day servants hear his voice by diligently studying the Bible and by applying its principles in their life with the help of publications
prepared by the faithful and discreet slave.

They caution their followers against failing to
listen to his [Jehovahs] own voice by ignoring counsel from Jehovah through his Word
and the faithful slave class. The Watchtower,
July 15, 1998, page 13.
Their end

The Shulammite was asked: May you descend from the lairs of lions, from the
mountains of leopards. (Song of Solomon
4:8) The same call is going out to the Shulammite remnant who got involved with the
lionlike Adversary, Satan the Devil. (Our
Kingdom Ministry, February 2000, page 6)
They also bonded with the United Nations that
are depicted in the Bible as a wild beast like a
leopard. (Revelation 13:2) If they really want
to prove to be the bride of Christ, they should
immediately descend, confess their deep wrongs
and honestly beg for forgiveness compare The

BACTERIA AND PARASITES GLORIFY JEHOVAH

I also, for my part, shall certainly make you sick. (Micah 6:13)
King David sang in a song of thanksgiving
to God: I shall laud you because in a fearinspiring way I am wonderfully made. Your
works are wonderful, as my soul is very well
aware. (Psalm 139:14) But David was not the
only creature that was wonderfully made by
God. On May 22, 1997 Lloyd Barry of the
Governing Body pointed out that the Creator, Jehovah, takes delight in all of his creations and cited from Hebrews 3:4 that he that
constructed all things is God. The Watchtower, November 15, 1999, page 10.
Without doubt, Jehovah is the Source of
life. All living things owe their life to God.
(What Does God Require of Us?, page 24) And
since the July 15, 1971 Watchtower says that
all living things bespeak intelligent design,
we must include not only wild beasts like lions
and crocodiles but also bacteria, parasites and
other germs. (page 45) These organisms also
bear witness to an intelligent creator who lovingly designed and constructed them.
The October 1, 2004 Watchtower confirms
this idea. It says that most of creation gives
glory to God. Why only most of? The exceptions are not parasites and bacteria but most
humans. page 14.

Bacteria How Did They Get Here?

By Evolution or by Creation?

God created at least 9000 different types of

bacteria according to their kinds. (Genesis
1:24) Prof. Franz Daschner, one of Germanys
most distinctive scientists for hygiene and
former director of the Institute of Environmental Medicine and Hospital Hygiene at Freiburg
University said in a speech on November 30,
2007: Bacteria are incredibly intelligent and
imaginative when they intend to make us humans sick. That can, for example, seen at
Helicobacter pylori.
While other bacteria are mortified by the
gastric acid, this creature is able to survive
the acidic pH of the lumen and burrow into the
mucus to reach its niche, close to the stomach's
epithelial cell layer. The bacterium has flagella
and moves through the stomach lumen and
drills into the mucoid lining of the stomach.
To avoid being carried into the lumen, H. pylori
senses the pH gradient within the mucus layer
by chemotaxis and swims away from the acidic
contents of the lumen towards the more neutral pH environment of the epithelial cell surface. (Encyclopaedia Wikipedia)
Indeed, this wonderfully made creature is
perfectly equipped for accomplishing its task,
which is to cause chronic gastritis, gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, maybe even cancer.
In Germany alone, thousands of people die
every year of these diseases and their consequences. Does it not prove the creators great
wisdom that a creature that is only a few micrometers in size can perform such a task, even
despite our modern medicine?

Prof. Daschner later mentioned another

bacteria that is also wonderfully made. According to his words it seems that God advised
the Staphylococcus epidermidis: On the skin I
forbid you to do evil. But when someone lets
you under the skin, be growing and become
many. Staphylococcus epidermidis has a fanatic and fantastic love for foreign bodies. It
reproduces on the foreign bodies, forms small
colonies and creates a sleeve of organic film
around the colony, so that neither the leucocytes nor the antibodies in the blood serum nor
most antibiotics are able to harm it. Like the
animals, so is this bacterium instinctively
wise though it belongs to the smallest
[things] of the earth. (Proverbs 30:24) Its wisdom even surpasses the wisdom of the human
immune system, and so it glorifies its creator.
The bacterias behavior is also a strong
proof against evolution. On the one hand because they display wisdom that could by no
means emerge just by itself. For example,
many bacteria are resistant against antibiotics
because, according to Prof. Daschner, they
have so called Eflux pumps with which they
pump the antibiotic out through the pores. Or
they modify their cell wall structure. Or they
produce enzymes that dissolve antibiotics.
Though evolutionists are shrouding their theory in mystic billions of years, as the September 22, 1981 Awake! issue noticed, bacteria
would have had to develop their mechanisms
within few decades! That is absolutely inconceivable. The only logical conclusion is that the
creator programmed the defensive measures
into these beings from the beginning. In his
unlimited foresight, he knew that the apostate
mankind would one day discover and develop
antibiotics to prevent his bacteria creatures
from accomplishing their ministry.

Staphylococcus epidermidis

On the other hand, bacteria falsify evolution by the way of dealing with bacteria of
other types. According to evolution theory they
would have to be interested only in their own
survival and in the continuity of their own
species. The fate of other species should not
interest them; rather they would have to try to
gain an edge over other types of bacteria.
But the opposite is true. Prof. Daschner explained how bacteria communicate their defense strategies to others: One species of bacteria was especially intelligent and has stored
resistance genes against many antibiotics on a
circular plasmid in the individual cells. These
look for a partner, virtually say: Come to me, I
have something good for you. The bacteria lay
next to each other. Over a protein bridge,
the resistance gene can now be transferred
from one cell to the other. This way, for example, resistance against antibiotics is transferred from a bacteria species that is harmless
for humans to pathogenic bacteria.
Thats why there are more and more bacteria that are resistant against all available antibiotics, killing around 50,000 people in Europe each year. By this ingenious mechanism,
the Creator made all human efforts to extinct
infectious diseases foredoomed to fail. Hence
his promise of a new world without diseases
remains attractive. Isaiah 33:24.
You Can Live Forever
with Parasites on Earth

Not only bacteria are wonderfully made

but parasites too. As the May 22, 1999 Awake!
issue said, a parasite is a living organism that
obtains some benefit from its host, a living
organism on or in which it lives. (page 14)
These creatures of God are very effective at
their task; according to the above mentioned
Awake! issue they cause abdominal pain, nausea, loss of appetite, a swollen abdomen, fatigue, and chronic indigestion, diarrhea, or
constipation as well as weight loss, restless
sleep, itching, wheezing, and fever.

But there are parasites that were equipped

by God with much more effective features. The
nematode Onchocerca volvulus for example
causes the so-called river blindness. The magazine Awake! describes it in its October 8, 1995
issue: These parasites torment their human
victims. Over the years the skin of the infected
person thickens and becomes scaly. Victims
develop what is vividly described as crocodile
skin, lizard skin, or leopard skin. Itching is
intense, reportedly driving some to suicide. If
young worms invade the eyes, in time, vision
deteriorates and the victim becomes totally
blind. . Sata, a female victim of river blindness in Burkina Faso, said: For a blind person,
whether a man or woman, the sufferings the
same. If a young woman is blind and unmarried, she wont get a husband. I got married
before I became blind, but my husband died.
My brother became blind when he was young
and so couldnt get a wife. page 25. Hence
this young and blind widow can now dedicate
her whole life to Jehovahs service, without
being distracted by a man or the desire of the
eyes. 1. John 2:16; compare Matthew 5:29.
Parasites are instinctively wise too.
(Proverbs 30:24) German newspaper Welt
online reported on May 15, 2001 that Carl
Zimmer describes in his book Parasitus Rex
how parasites program other beings like robots for their purposes. And the August 8,
2003 Awake! issue describes an ingenious ruse
used by the parasites that can infect the human immune system and cause leishmaniasis.
The parasites exploit a normal process in
the body whereby cells that are no longer needed or that become harmful self-destruct (apoptosis) and are swallowed up by scavenger cells
called macrophages. The parasites mimic the
molecular signals produced by cells in the early
stages of apoptosis, thus tricking the scavengers into devouring them. Once inside the
scavenger cells, the parasites multiply rapidly
and then infect other cells. Symptoms include
sores, swelling of the spleen and liver, and in
some cases death. page 29.

Bacteria, parasites and insects all Gods

creatures work in perfect harmony when it
comes to making humans sick. As the May 22,
2003 Awake! issue noted, insect-borne diseases were responsible for more human disease
and death in the 17th through the early 20th
centuries than all other causes combined.
Presently, about 1 out of every 6 people is infected with a disease acquired through insects.

Now Triumphing by Means of Diseases

Some people cannot imagine that sickening

bacteria and parasites were created by God.
They believe that not God but the devil would
have brought these beings into existence. But
the devil is not a creator. In fact, such people
are lacking an accurate understanding of Jehovahs purpose.
Jehovah himself said: Who makes one
mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Isn't it I,
Yahweh? (Exodus 4:11, WEB) Of course, not
Jehovah himself makes the people mute, deaf
or blind. Rather, he makes use of the bacteria
and parasites that he created. They support
him in accomplishing his will.

Diseases play a major role in Gods purpose.

He threatened his people: Jehovah will cause
the pestilence to cling to you. Jehovah will
strike you with tuberculosis and burning fever
and inflammation and feverish heat. Jehovah will strike you with the boil of Egypt and
piles and eczema and skin eruption. Jehovah will strike you with madness and loss of
sight and bewilderment of heart. Jehovah
will strike you with a malignant boil upon both
knees and both legs, from which you will not be
able to be healed. (Deuteronomy 28:21, 22, 27,
28, 35) Granted, all those diseases should
strike the Israelites only in case they would sin
but there is no man that does not sin.
1 Kings 8:46.
But is it not Gods will that all humans live
in happiness and health? No. The book Insight
on the Scriptures says: The entire Bible account makes manifest Jehovah Gods primary purpose: the sanctification of his own name.
(Volume II, page 16) And the God that was the
smiter of Egypt with every sort of slaughter in
the wilderness explained through the prophet
Jeremiah how he imagines the sanctification of
his own name: Those slain by Jehovah will
certainly come to be in that day from one end of
the earth clear to the other end of the earth.
(1 Samuel 4:8; Jeremiah 25:33) As natural
disasters alone are not sufficient to kill all
humans, Jehovah does also use bacteria, parasites and savage beasts. Jehovah is a Killer.
1 Samuel 2:6.
Since humans are imperfect, not all diseases lead to death. In many cases, we recover
from our diseases after some time. But even if
we dont die from them, we cannot attribute
our diseases and ailments to the Devil.
(The Watchtower, August 1, 1973, page 476)
Indeed, it is not Satan who causes diseases.
Rather, Jehovah himself promised: I also, for
my part, shall certainly make you sick. (Micah
6:13) Thats why he created an abundance of
germs that faithfully accomplish his will.

These do not spare Gods servants. The

prophet Isaiah foretold about Jesus Christ:
Jehovah himself took delight in crushing him;
he made him sick. (Isaiah 53:10) Jehovah was
not simply forced to allow diseases to strive his
son; rather, he took delight in it; he decided
to crush him (NCV), it pleased him (KJV).
Jesus imitated his fathers attitude when he
declared: Sickness is to honor God and to
promote His glory. (John 11:4, AMP) Jesus did
give the glory to God, likely because he feared
to become eaten up with worms like Herod
otherwise. Acts 12:23.
Survival Into Overpopulation?

Even back in 1982, the Watchtower mentioned estimates of how many humans have
ever lived on earth that vary from 14 billion to
20 billion. (April 1, 1982, page 20) All these
people could survive Armageddon or be resurrected if they observe the commandments of
God. (Revelation 12:17) And his commandments are not burdensome, as the apostle
John noted. (1 John 5:3) Hence, the longer it
takes until Armageddon comes, the more people could survive it or revive in the New World
that could easily lead to overpopulation with
all of its negative consequences.

Jehovah is a killer

For this reason, Jehovah in his wisdom took

appropriate measures, so that not all these
people observe his commandments and he has
to keep them alive. By means of The Watchtower and other religious literature, God lets an
operation of error go to them, that they may
get to believing the lie, in order that they all
may be judged. (2 Thessalonians 2:11, 12) But
he does also use bacteria and parasites to induce people to sin. German newspaper Spiegel
online reported on April 4, 2009 that Treponema pallidum pallidum, the bacterium that
causes syphilis, boosts the sexual activity of
infected humans. That increases the probability that they act immorally, giving God a reason to annihilate them in Armageddon.
The parasite Toxoplasma gondii likely has
a similar purpose. The Czech biologist Jaroslav
Flegr found that this protozoon alters the behavior of infected humans they become less
confident and are more assailed by doubts;
infected men are more wary and care less
about social norms. That can make them question even the remarks of Gods channel of
communications, and such disrespectful behavior gives God every reason to wipe them out.
This way he makes sure that there will be
enough space for the few survivors of Armageddon.

The nematode Onchocerca volvulus that

causes river blindness does also conduce to the
success of Jehovahs purpose. After all, blind
people cannot read the magazines setting out
life-giving truths. (2000 Yearbook of Jehovahs
Witnesses, page 120) Granted, some of them
worship Jehovah anyway, so that they may
have to be concealed in the day of Jehovahs
anger. (Zephaniah 2:3) But most blind people
have no possibility of getting to know Jehovahs purposes, and so he will have every reason to annihilate them and to glorify his name
by a great slaughter.
All creation praises Jehovah, noted the
December 15, 1988 Watchtower. (page 15) That
no doubt includes bacteria, parasites and other
works of creation that Jehovah created according to their kinds. (Genesis 1:24) Every single
one of these fascinating creatures contributes
to the fulfillment of Jehovahs purpose in one
way or another. Are we not struck with awe
when we think about the vast wisdom that
Jehovah displayed when he created these beings? Next time when we have the honor of
accommodating one of these creations in our
body, we surely will glorify our God full of
thanksgiving. (compare Matthew 10:24) Let
every living creature praise the LORD! Psalm
150:6, CEV.

Other marvelous creatures

Awake! magazine wrote that infectious diseases and parasites were the worlds biggest killers, snuffing out the
lives of 16.4 million people each year. (February 22, 1996, page 9) But germs are not the only creatures that are made
for spreading disease and death. Animals too are wonderfully made. (The Watchtower, June 15, 2007, page 23) For
example let us consider the big cats. Since 1990, lions have killed more than 560 Tanzanians, including nursing mothers, children playing outside their huts and people dragged from their beds. (Environment News Service, August 17,
2005) Tigers have killed at least three children and four adults in northern India in recent weeks Villagers in the area
are keeping their children home from school and have stopped tending their fields for fear of the tigers. (Associated
Press, January 30, 2009) Indeed, all living things, including the great cats, are evidence of Gods wisdom and power,
and he views them as worthy of his attention and care. Awake!, June 2008, page 17.
The Leviathan likely the crocodile is also part of the works that Jehovah made in wisdom. (Psalm 104:24, 26)
God does give them their food in its season, including at least three humans in Australia in early 2009. True, Jehovah
is a killer not only by means of natural disasters and diseases but also by wild beasts. 1 Samuel 2:6.

QUESTIONS FROM READERS

I have cheesy feet. Should I have them
amputated? Can I cause myself or others to
stumble by my feet? Or may I even attract
the opposite sex? G. K., Germany.
According to Radio Berlin, about five percent
of all people suffer from perspiring feet. But
young Christians who abandon higher education
often can afford only cheap shoes which boost
the problem. Hence they are more affected by
smelly feet than other segments of the population.
Cheesy feet were always common among
Gods servants. At least on one occasion, Jesus
put water into a basin and started to wash the
feet of the disciples, obviously because he
couldnt stand the stench any longer. (John
13:5) Even long before, the priests in Israel had
to wash their feet that they may not die
from the smell. Exodus 30:21.
As Christians, we have to avoid stumbling
anyone. Some Christians may fear that their
cheesy feet might even distract people in field
service from the good news. But the psalmist
said about false gods and their worshippers: A
nose they have, but they cannot smell. (Psalm
115:6) Thus we should not bother about the
people in our territory. After all, Christians
should even be a bad smell for worldlings. 2
Corinthians 9:16, CEV.
Can the feet of one bringing good news
stink at all? (Nahum 1:15) Yes, since the bad
smell is not caused by the feet themselves but
by bacteria that decomposes the perspiration.
And these microbes are part of Gods wonderfully made works of creation. (Psalm 139:14)
The August 15, 1984 Watchtower even mentions the immensity and majesty of the universe, the fascination of microorganisms.

The March 8, 1974 Awake! issue accordingly noticed: Though one does not want to be
needlessly offensive to others, there is such a
thing as being overly concerned with banishing
B[ody] O[dor]. (page 24) And the May 22, 2004
issue said: People are showering too often for
too long. (page 28) Indeed, washing and showering can occupy precious time that we should
better spend for the life-saving kingdom
preaching work.
But there is another aspect that young people must consider when they wonder what to
do with their cheesy feet. After all, to remain
clean in the eyes of the faithful and discreet
slave they have to avoid immorality at any
price. But scientists found in 2005 that women
are attracted by the smell of male sweat on
their fertile days. Thus cheesy feet could be the
entering wedge into a development leading to a
fatal stumbling, including catastrophic consequences like unwanted pregnancy, sexually
transferable diseases and disfellowshipping.
Every Christian must make a decision
whether he wants to do something about his
cheesy feet or not. He should heed Jesus advice: If your foot is making you stumble, cut
it off and throw it away. (Matthew 18:8) There
is no indication that Jesus meant that in a
transferred sense. No, he even repeated his
order: If your foot makes you stumble, cut it
off; it is finer for you to enter into life lame
than with two feet to be pitched into Gehenna.
Mark 9:45.
How much better it is to cut off ones feet
and burn oneself out in the house-to-house
service instead of leading a comfortable life
with two feet and then being killed at Armageddon! Every servant of God who has smelly
feet should consider that!
