On the May 4, 2010 Election Ballot there will be a 0.4 mill tax
levy for 5 years to support OSU Extension Van Wert County
which includes programming in the areas of 4-H Youth De-
velopment, Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Family
Consumer Sciences.
Why is a levy necessary?
OSU Extension Van Wert County and 4-H are in jeopardy of losing
local matching support, due to the Van Wert County severe county
budget short fall for 2010.

What happens if the levy fails?

ALL programs conducted by OSU Extension Van Wert County,
including 4-H will be eliminated or severely reduced. There must be
local funding to continue receiving Extension services.
Don’t you receive funding from the County Commissioners already?
The county budget shortfall could further reduce funding for Van
Wert County Extension and 4-H. This levy is a proactive measure to
avoid reduction or elimination in services.
Will the State of Ohio or The Ohio State University provide funding to
keep the local Extension office open?
No. The Ohio State University Extension has an agreement with
Ohio counties in which a county must first provide local support to
receive state and federal dollars.

Isn’t this levy just for 4-H?

No, it is for OSU Extension Van Wert County office which also
