SPIRITUAL RENEWAL

Renew Our Commitment to Gods Word

Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin
against You. (Psalm 119.11)

What does it look like to do this today?

How valuable is Gods word to us today?

What if Gods word were taken away from us?

What benefits are brought to us through the word of God?

Dear Church St. family,

Thank you for the great response to bringing in food items for the backpack
program. This program helps 20 children at MES have something to eat on the
weekends. When its a long weekend, we send home 2 bags with them. You are
a real blessing to these families. Thank you, Pat Jent

The path

Sometimes life gets busy. We all have places to be, people to see, and things to do. And sometimes, in all the
hustle and bustle, we forget that God meets us in the quiet and still moments of life.
We love to see God in the big things of life. The miracles. We marvel when we see God do something that
cannot be explained. Someone is healed. God comes to the rescue at just the right moment. There is a new job.
A wayward prodigal comes home. We love the big moments of life.
Elijah loved those moments, too. He saw the fire fall from heaven. He saw the prophets of Ahab defeated and
humiliated as the Lord God showed up in a great way. He was on the mountain peak of life. Can it get any
better than this?
But as often happens, there is a valley in life that follows a mountain peak. And Elijah found himself in the
valley. So he started looking for God again. He looked for Him in the mighty wind and he looked for Him in the
earthquake but he just couldnt find Him. Lets let the Scripture speak for itself
And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the L ORD came to him,
and He said to him, What are you doing here, Elijah? So he said, I have been very zealous for the LORD God of
hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets
with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life. Then He said, Go out and stand on the mountain
before the LORD . And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and
broke the rocks into pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake,
but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after
the fire a still small voice. So it was, when Elijah heard it that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out
and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him and said, What are you doing here,
Elijah? (1 Kings 19.9-13 NKJV)
If you see Him in the big things today, thats wonderful. But dont miss hearing His still, small voice. It may
be just a whisper. But I know that He will speak to you today, if you will only listen.
In Christ with love,
Trip
