MINISTRY OBJECTIVE

I am called to serve in full time music ministry. My philosophy is to equip the saints for
the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12); to effectively, creatively, and biblically
incorporate music into the threefold mission of the church: worship (Psalm 96:1, 9),
edification (Hebrews 2:12, Colossians 3:16), and outreach (Acts 16:25-31); and to
skillfully lead people with integrity and compassion (Psalm 78:72).

MINISTRY EXPERIENCE

Associate Minister of Student Music, First Baptist Church, Hurst, Texas

Continuing the responsibilities as Worship and Creative Arts Associate as listed
in previous position. Also responsible to the student pastor for developing and leading
the student music and worship team within the student ministry, while providing
administrative assistance to the student pastor for all youth activities. Specific
responsibilities include:

o Leader and developer of the student praise band


• Recruit, train, and mentor student players and singers
• Lead weekly rehearsals
• Plan Wednesday night youth worship gatherings and coordinate
student involvement via Planning Center (a web based client used
to organize our services).
• Lead Wednesday night youth worship gatherings
• Create and teach recurring Core Sessions (teachings on worship)
o Worship leader for youth retreats.
o Organize and host the guest Disciple Now worship band
• Coordinate and plan the worship gatherings with both the student
pastor and the guest band.
• Enlist and direct all volunteer help (sound, lyrics, lights, set-up,
etc.)
o Any other administrative duties for special youth activities (camp, retreats,
etc) as designated by the student pastor.

Worship and Creative Arts Associate, First Baptist Church, Hurst, Texas,
September 2006 – June 2009.
Responsible to the minister of music and the church for assisting in the development
and promotion of the music ministry of the church. Specific responsibilities include:

o Director of the 80 voice Crossroads Student Music Team (choir and band)
• Lead weekly rehearsals
• Sing in worship services monthly
• Plan and organize fundraising opportunities
• Create concert opportunities
• Plan and lead the annual choir mission trip. Past trips include St.
Louis, Chicago, and Nashville.
• Enlist and oversee all parent and student volunteer positions which
include:
 Mission Trip Coordinator
 Fundraising Concert Coordinator
 Communications Coordinators (online communications,
phone calls, texts, and mail outs)
 Media- Videographer and Photographer
 Choreographer
 Rehearsal Assistants
o Director of Tetelestai, the 15 voice student ensemble created during my
tenure
o Rehearse the instrumental ensemble
o Rehearse the vocal praise teams
o Assist Worship Pastor Mark Garner in a number of capacities:
• Lead worship monthly on Sunday mornings.
• Lead adult choir and praise band rehearsals monthly.
• Plan and organize special services/productions (i.e. holiday
services/productions, funerals, etc.)
• Co-produce the music ministry recordings
• Make recommendations concerning music selection and worship

o Responsible for assisting Rick Briscoe and the Prestonwood Student

Choir Junior High School mission trip and concerts in Houston, TX.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Through my past years of education and ministry experience God has blessed me
with the opportunity to not only develop skills necessary for the advancement of a music
program, but an understanding of what it means to use music to minister to the needs of
the church body and the un-churched community. My combined education and
experience has provided me with the desire and ability to lead people of all ages, both
musically and spiritually. I am committed to seeking God’s plan for both my life, and the
body of believers that I may serve.
