IMPACT REPORT

OUR GOAL

TNLP's goal is to effectively and sustainably

eradicate poverty.

1.

We believe that social entrepreneurship, social

investment and volunteerism can eradicate poverty.

2.

Promote pure and continuous volunteerism within

Malaysian society.

3.

Every social impact project must be continuous and

financially sustainable.

We set up a social enterprise called The

Nasi Lemak Project Sdn Bhd to sell Nasi
Lemak made by urban poor families in
Malaysia.

OUR WORK

During our pilot in Nov 2015, with the nurturing

hands of MaGIC Social Entrepreneurship, we

sold over RM55,000 worth of Nasi

Lemak cooked by urban poor
families.
5 families doubled their income

to an extra RM900 per family

TNLP weekly operations are
sustainable by social
enterprise & investments
throughout 2015

Selling hundreds of Nasi Lemak in a day is not easy. The profit margin is small, but it is one of
the easiest dish for urban poor families to cook without using expensive utensils and
ingredients. There are huge challenges and costs to build a distribution channel for (soon to be)
4,000 packs of Nasi Lemak daily, and creating trust among urban poor communities - that
social business can better their lives.

OUR WORK

Edurangers laid low in 2015, from 5

communities in 2013/2014 to only 2
communities. Nevertheless, the impact is
still gigantic.
Engaged and taught continuously

almost 200 children for more

than 40 weeks

More than 100

youth volunteer teachers

2 communities are engaged

and database collected
throughout 2015

The Nasi Lemak Project is foremost known

to engage with the homeless. Our
StreetRangers did outreach mainly in Jalan
Hang Lekiu in 2015.

OUR WORK

In 2015, we continuously engaged

200 homeless urban poor in

Kuala Lumpur every week

Cooked, packed and served more than

200,000 meals in 2015

Engaged more than 30
companies and institutions to
sponsor & volunteer
throughout 2015

Consistent volunteerism is still alien in Malaysian volunteering scene. Thus, The Nasi Lemak
Project faces constant volunteer shortage and has to re-recruit every three months.
Nevertheless, some volunteers persisted even after 6 months, and they made the core veins of
TNLP's social impact projects.

OUR PLANS
Over the next year, we will continue to work in the communities where The Nasi Lemak Project
currently has a presence to deepen our impact. We will get more families to double their income
through entrepreneurship, educate more children & youths, and engage more urban poor
communities.

More Social Impact

Projects

In 2016, we aim to stabilise

and expand sales, so that
we can double the income
of 20 families.

Alongside
existing
Edurangers
&
Streetrangers, we will add
5 more new impact
projects for 2016:

With better sales, we could

better sustain our nonprofit
social impact projects and
have minimal reliance to
donations.

Expansion of
Impact to more
Communities
In 2016, we aim to expand
to at least 5 more
communities in Malaysia,
and attract an increase of
100%
of

engaged in 2015.
