manufacturer and formulator of silicone
emulsions and silicone compounds for the
personal care sector. Established in 1971, they
are renowned as a company with a history of
excellence in the emulsification of silicones. In
April 2011, Basildon Chemicals was purchased
by the KCC Corporation and, to this day, continue
their focus on the consumer markets of food,
pharmaceuticals and personal care.

Crystal Clear Conditioning Shampoo (CS-13)
Smoothing Conditioner (RC-12)
One of our newest materials, SeraShine SQ 41 (Silicone Quaternium-8), allows for crystal clear
shampoos, with superior conditioning properties. SeraShine SQ 41 is a 40% active, water-soluble
polymer that will not degrade foam, and is effective at low addition levels. It improves wet combing
and detangling, leaving hair feeling and looking healthy.
SeraShine EM 503 (Dimethicone (and) Cocamidopropyl Betaine (and) Laureth-3 (and) Guar
Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride) is a high-active silicone emulsion with a large particle size.
It is ideal for coarse and frizzy hair where high conditioning is required, as it has an impressive
smoothing effect.

Method

Add the water to the vessel.

Premix the glycerin and Celquat. Add to the batch and stir until fully dispersed.
Add the rest of the ingredients in order, stirring well between additions.
Check pH and viscosity and adjust if necessary.
Typical Properties
Appearance: Opaque, white emulsion

Viscosity @ 25C: 10000 20000cPs (Brookfield Helipath, T Bar C,10rpm)
pH @ 25C: 3.5 4.5
Method
Add the water to the vessel and begin to heat.

Premix the glycerin and hydroxyethylcellulose, add to the water and stir until thickened.
Continue to heat to 80 85C.
Add the Incromine and citric acid.
In a separate vessel, heat the Crodacols, Incroquat and Mango Butter until molten. When
both phases reach 80 85C, transfer the fats to the water phase. Homogenise for 5 minutes at
3000rpm.
Transfer back to a paddle stirrer and cool to below 40C.
Add the remaining ingredients in order.

Clear Shine Shampoo (CS-14)
Co-Wash Cleansing Conditioner (RC-11)
SeraShine EM 501C (Phenyl Trimethicone (and) Silicone Quaternium-17 (and) Laureth-4) is

a microemulsion of fine particle size which allows clear shampoos. Phenyl Trimethicone is
deposited onto the hair to add gloss. Silicone Quaternium-17is substantive to damaged hair, giving
conditioning where it is needed most.
Co-Washes are popular for Ethnic hair types, as they are gentler than traditional shampoos and
do not strip the hair of natural oils. This product is designed for use once or twice a week, in
place of a shampoo. SeraSense SF CM56 (Cyclopentasiloxane (and) Cyclohexasiloxane) allows
the conditioner to spread easily through the hair. SeraShine EM 505 (Amodimethicone (and)
Dimethicone (and) Laureth-23 (and) Laureth-6) has a large particle size, providing even the coarsest
hair with superior conditioning.

Method
Add the water to the vessel and begin stirring.

Premix the glycerin and the Celquat. Add to the batch and stir until dispersed.
Add the surfactants and Carbopol. Adjust the pH to 6.50 7.50 with NaOH after addition of the
Carbopol.
Add the rest of the ingredients in order, stirring well between additions.
Check pH and viscosity and adjust as necessary.

Method
Add the water to the vessel and begin to heat.

In a separate vessel, heat the Crodacols and Terraquat until molten. When both phases reach 80
85C, transfer the fats to the water phase. Homogenise for 5 minutes at 3000rpm.
Cool to below 40C and add the remaining ingredients in order.

Silk Touch Coating Serum (HJ13M_05)
Weightless Hair Oil (IT-4)
The combination of silicones in this lightweight serum allows easy absorption into the hair.
SeraSense SF PTM (Phenyl Trimethicone) adds shine, and SeraSense SA 30 (Amodimethicone)
is highly substantive, protecting the hair from heat damage. SeraSense RB 21 (Dimethicone (and)
Trimethylsiloxysilicate) is a resin blend with impressive anti-frizz properties.
Weightless Hair Oil contains an expert blend of silicones and coconut oil to provide the softest,
shiniest hair imaginable, without feeling heavy or greasy. SeraSense RB 21 (Dimethicone
(and) Trimethylsiloxysilicate) tames frizz and soothes dryness. SeraSense SF DDM (Diphenyl
Dimethicone) has a high refractive index, resulting in glossy tresses. SeraSense SF CPM (Caprylyl
Methicone) has a super-light feel and excellent compatibility with natural oils. This product has
been specially formulated so it can be used three ways - on dry hair as a pre-shampoo treatment, or
on both wet and dry hair post wash as a serum.

This leave-in spray conditioner will leave the hair conditioned and protected from heat, due to the
addition of SeraShine EM 401C (Silicone Quaternium-17 (and) C11-15 Pareth-5 (and) C11-15 Pareth-9).
SeraSol SC 85 (PEG-11 Methyl Ether Dimethicone) also conditions by detangling and reducing static.
This formulation can also be used on dry hair as a light finishing product.
This face mask gently cleanses and detoxifies the skin. SeraSoft SW 72 (Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether
Dimethyl Silane) melts on contact with skin at 32C, leaving it silky soft. In addition to this, the
SeraSense materials facilitate spreading and give lubricity to the skin.

Method

Add the water to the vessel and begin stirring.

Sprinkle in the Optigel and heat to 70-80C.
Melt the waxes to 80C and add to the water phase. Homogenise until smooth.
Place back on the stirrer and cool.
Once cooled (<40C), add the rest of the ingredients.

Sparkling Oil Gel (FM-2)
Moisture Gel for Men (for oily skin) (SJ13F_04)
Sparkling Oil Gel is a refractive index matched formulation of both oil and water. SeraSol SC 81
(PEG-12 Dimethicone) is an emulsifier and humectant. SeraSense GB 10 (Cyclopentasiloxane (and)
Dimethiconol) gives long lasting moisturisation to thirsty skin and hair. This product can be used on
wet or dry skin, or as a serum for hair.
This oil and alcohol-free formulation gives a cool feeling to skin. SeraSense EM 61 (Dimethicone
(and) Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer) smoothes the skin, without feeling tacky, also
reducing pore size. SeraSoft SW 72 (Bis PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane) is a soft wax which
melts on contact with skin to leave a silky soft feel.

Method

Phase A

In a separate vessel, mix the ingredients of Phase B.
Measure the refractive index of each phase. Match Phase A to Phase B by either adding water to
decrease the RI, or glycerin to increase it.
Add B to A and stir until homogenous.
Add Phase C.

Method

In a separate vessel, mix the ingredients of Phase B. Add Phase B to Phase A and homogenise for
5 minutes.
Premix Phase C and add to A+B.
Add Phase D.
Check pH and viscosity.

Aqua Gel Cream (Oil Free) (SJ13J_CH)
This super-hydrating cream is lightweight giving a cool, watery feeling. SeraSol EL 92 (Dimethicone
(and) Dimethicone/PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer) is an emulsifying elastomer, giving a unique water
drop appearance when massaged into the skin. SeraSense SF 6 (Dimethicone) leaves skin feeling
moisturised and soft.
This light gel-cream leaves skin feeling refreshed and supple. SeraSol SC 85 (PEG-11 Methyl Ether
Dimethicone) is a cold-processable O/W emulsifier and humectant. SeraSoft SW 72 (Bis-PEG-18
Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane) melts on contact with skin to give a silky-smooth feel.

Deep Moisture Sleeping Mask (SJ13M_EU)
12hr UV Protect Cream (SUJ13J_07)
This intensive moisturising mask is designed to be applied before bedtime so it can replenish the skin
overnight. The blend of silicone products within the formulation give long-lasting moisturisation and
a silky-soft skin feel. SeraSense SF MTM (Methyl Trimethicone) can be used as a replacement for
Cyclopentasiloxane, however it has a faster volatility and lower freezing point than D5.
This light-feeling, waterproof sunscreen can also be used as a make-up base. SeraSense SF CPM (Caprylyl
Methicone) is a volatile silicone which reduces the rub-in time of creams and lotions. SeraSol SC 86 (PEG-10
Dimethicone) is a strong W/O emulsifier and humectant. SeraSol EL 92 (Dimethicone (and) Dimethicone/
PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer) is a highly-stable elastomeric emulsifier which gives a non-greasy feel.

This dual-phase product is designed to be misted over make-up, to give a long-lasting finish.
SeraSense RB 21 (Dimethicone (and) Trimethylsiloxysilicate) is a resin blend which leaves a flexible,
long-lasting film on the skin. SeraSense SF PTM (Phenyl Trimethicone) has a high refractive index
and so giving radiance.
The wrinkle reduction effect is thanks to elastomer powder SeraSense SP 13 (Dimethicone/Vinyl

Dimethicone Crosspolymer). This is an easily dispersed powder which creates a soft focus effect
and leaves the skin incredibly silky and smooth.

Nourishing Nail Drying Spray (NC-2)

This Nourishing Nail Drying Spray is to be applied after nails have been painted. SeraSense
SF 1.5 (Dimethicone) is a volatile silicone of 1.5cS that speeds up drying time. SeraSense RB 21
(Dimethicone (and) Trimethylsiloxysilicate) is a resin blend that protects wet nails from damage.
This product can also be used as a nail conditioning oil.
This clear gel cream is highly moisturising, and leaves the skin supple. SeraSol SC 84
(Cyclopentasiloxane (and) PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone) is a W/O emulsifier which helps to create a
clear product. The blend of silicones gives a soft feel and spreadability to the cream.
