What is moving so many housewives \and
mothers to take up the pioneer service and
find real joy in it? It is love for Jehovah God
and a sincere desire to help others to find
the way that leads to eternal life. Their efforts have been richly blessed. Is the same
love moving you to want to do as much as
you can in declaring the 'rgood newsv? Even
if circumstances do not permit you to be a
regular pioneer, could you share in their
joys as a temporary pioneer? Does your
heart impel you to wantto do so because of
concern for people in your territory?
, A sister from portug*, where the work
of Jehovah's witnesses is banned, tells what
Eloved her to take up temporary pioneer
service: "At a circuit assembly I attended the
meeting for those interested in pioneer service. The comments of the district overseer ~
truly made me think. He said: When you 1
really love someone, don't you gladly do 1
something to show it? How are we showing '
our love for Jehovah? Perhaps we can do
this more fully by serving as temporary pioneers.' Since I always wanted to do this, I L
decided to talk with my husband about it.

field service more often and this strengthened them spiritually. Additionally, our relationship as parent and child was greatly
improved by giving them individual attention
and having companionship with them in service. Senring as a pioneer has been a p r o w tion for me, because it has helped me to
become free from selfish ambitions."
the branch in Japan comes this report: "Many of the pioneers \in Japan are
housewives. With a good schedule, they have

often arrange to arrive home just as the children do, and to have Bible students come to
the home a t that hour, or to take the children
on studies with them. There may be a child in
the home where the study is held. In this
case the child of the pioneer may conduct a
study with that child."
The branch overseer from Korea writes
that housewives are among the most effective pioneers in that land. Usually they cond u d more Bible studies than do the other
regular pioneers. Commenting on the general circumstances of these housewives, the
branch overseer writes:
"Most of the homes of the Korean brothers
are very humble, consisting of just a room
or two. This means less housework. However, without modern appliances, sisters must
spend more time in preparing meals and
shopping once or twice each' day. Practically
none of the sisters have washing machines.

who was aided to serve as a temporary pioneer because of her mother's willingness to
care for 'the children for a month, many
others have been able to pi'oneer with the
help of family cooperation.
the Philippines many brothers do farming. When planting and harvesting are in
progress, they are very busy. g u t when this
work is finished, many share in temporary

One of the reasons why there are many to free them for pioneer service. An overseer in Nagoya: Japan, left a full-time, job

people do not normally want to take, such as early

alleys and offices. Sometimes two pioneers
taken one full-time iob between them.
In Hawaii a coupie with two children sold a
chicken farm and moved to another island to Dieneer while their childreg were young. They expressed their feelings in this way: "Pioneering
as an example to our children was the best heritage we could give them." The father drove a
school bus and did carpenter work part time to
sustain the family financialYy, while he served as
presiding overseer and as a regular pioneer. During the summer months the children served as
temporary pioneers with their parents.
Another brother from Hawaii states: "My a p
preciation for the pioneer work came when my
W e and two sons became pioneers. I had a good
position with the telephone company for many
years and, after twenty years with the company,
decided to take early retirement, took on a Darttime job and applied for regular pioneer service.
Jehovah has richly blessed our efforts in full-time
serqce. My two sons are now serving in Brooklyn
Bethel, and I enjoy the companfonship of my wife
fn the pioneer work."
A couple in Portugal with a nine-year-old daughter learned, the truth and felt so indebted to
Jehovah that they made their goal the pioneer
service. However, this would not be easy, since,
in additioh to the daughter, the wife's parents had
td l
x cared for as well as an eighty-year-old aunt.
Not quickly deterred, the couple figured out the
value of all their material possessions. Since they
owned the apartment, they decided to turn this
inta an asset by renting it out. Thus their home
would beewe a stepping-ptone to pioneer service
rather than a hindrance, The rent received woulrl
greatly help to offset other expenses. Since they
owned some property, it was decided to sell this
now and use the income toward pioneer expenses.

to bear, trying to fill the couple with fear about
tlle bncertainty of the future. However, they held
to their decision. Just three years aft& the& dedication, they are enjoying many blessings in the
special pioneer service. The couple are conducting
a total of thirty home Bible ,studies. Their steadfasltness in putting Kingdo interests first has
also helped to move nine me%bers of the immediate family to dedicate their lives to Jehovdh w d .
Truly, thow who have given up material things ,
to devote themselves more fully to advance King- I
dom interests as pioneers have been richly blessed.
A husband and wife, both of whom gave up goodpa@g jobs to become pioneers, commented: "The
past four years have been the happiest, the most
blessed and gratifying years of our life, serving
Jehovah as pioneers. There are no regrets, for we
have been both spiritually and materially blessed."
After considering your own &rcums@nces,what
do you think? b pioneering, for ,you? Can you
aajust your circumstances and get by with less
materially? Wauld it be .possible to work together
as a family %@ ithat a t least one member could
be a regular pioneer? OT, might it be possible,
through family cooperation, for various family
members to take tclrns in 'sharing in temporary
pioneer service?
I
If, after prayerful consideration, you see
possibility of enlarging your participation in
field ministry as a regular or a temporary pioneer, k
why not set a date to dart, and work toward
that end?
As devoted servants of Jehovah God we certainly want to use t h e wisely in!these ''last days."
When we are whole-eottled in our service to Jehovah, we can rest assured of his blessing. Like
the apostle Paul, W6 will be able to say, ''I am
clean from the bbbtrd of all men."

Watchtower Farm has been the

scene of a lot of excitement lately.
The Society has completed one new
factory there and another one, a
huge building, is well under way.
Since February 2 the first factory
there a t the farm has been producing literature for your use in the
field. On that day, just a few weeks
ago, the first magazines rolled off
one of the printing presses in that
new factory. And how this delighted
the large family that serves on your
behalf there a t Watchtower Farm!
Now two presses are running, and
there are more to come. Three
more large rotary presses have already arrived from Germany, and
soon these will be erected, ready
for production. Our brothers there
are willing and eager t o supply all
4 the magazines that you can possibly
use in proclaiming the good news !
With the new printing facilities,
our capacity for producing magadnes and handling subscriptions
has been greatly increased. So we
are now able to invite ail of you

A young married man, on completing his
training as a teacher in Bandung, Indonesia,
returned to his native village. He returned
with more than secular knowledge, for he
had become a dedicated, baptized disciple
of the Lord Jesus Christ. Alone in the mountain village, he spent many hours proclaiming the "good news" t o the people in
their native language. He delivered the Memorial talk a t 10 p.m., after the villagers
had returned from their work. Over one
hqndred persons assembled outside in the
marketplace before a campfire. Encouraged
by the atkmdance and seeing the great need
to increase the amount of time he was spending in preaching and teaching, he enrolled as
a temporary pioneer. Soon he stopped secular
teaching and became a regular pioneer- No1

Pidneering While Going to School

Some brothers and sisters have found that
they can even be regular pioneers while going
to school.
One youthLservingas a pioneer in Hawaii
relates: "I realized that pioneering a half
& ~ yof each school day would serve as a
protection from the influences of worldly
schaolmates and also discourwe extracurricular activities since I would be busy in the
field ministry. with a lot of help from
Jehovah and much encouragement from my
family, I was able to do well in the pioneer
work. I am really glad that I pioneered while
going to school, because it really sharpened
my appreciation for the precious privilege
of serving Jehovah in the last days anid
helped me to rely more heavily on Jd~ovah
as my Source of strength."
A sister in New York city who began
pioneering while still in school had the
following schedule: She would come home
from school a t about 2 p.m. Her day in service would start a half hour later and continue until about 6 or 7 o'clock. She did some
of her homework during the lunch period and
the rest of it after field service. She still
enjoys pioneering and views it as a protection
against being sidetracked,by the things done
in the world.
A sister in Kansas was able to' arrange to
w e most of her required number of subjbcts

the first three Years of high school. This
Xilade it possible for her to pioneer during
xBrsenior Year,. when she was given permis&~>n
to take only three classes.

Rejecting College Educ&n to Pioneer

Not all those who are pioneering now had
that desire originally. There were those who
wanted higher education in order to get
ahead in the world. One pion& sister serving
in Hawaii comments: "My goal was to get
a good college education. I entered college
and became inactive qpiritually. However, I
found college very dissatisfying. I thought
there must be something better in life,
something to make life more rewarding. I
began to attend meetings again 'and associated with pioneers. Soon I left college and
pursued the desire to serve Jehovah as a
pioneer."
Another Hawaiian sister relates the following: "My father wanted me to attend
college on a scholarship. I had the desire ta
learn enough to see if human philosophies
could help people with their problems. After
one year of college, I realized the vanity of
worldly wisdom and discontinued my college
scholarship. Nly mother was a fine example
as a pioneer. There were other zealous pioneers in the congregation, and their faith
and zeal were contagious, stimulating a
desire in me to join them in the pioneer
service.
I was
"After one circuit overseer's -t,
determined to become a pioneer. I talked
to my mother about this and, due to m
father's not being in the truth, felt that I
would have to leave home to pioneer, I
explained to mother that, even if it meant
leaving home to pioneer, I would do so. The
thought of our becoming separated caused
both of us to cry. I prayed that Jehovah
would soften my father's heart so that he
would let me pioneer and remain a t home.
Jehovah answered my prayer and I have
enjoyed a number of years a t home in the
pioneer service. Part-time work has ken
available to support myself."

who enter the pioneer service have had to
make adjustments. Those who have done so
have been greatly blessed.

A sister from Portugal relates her experience: "1 was the only child and therefore the
center of attention. But I realized that most
of my time was being spentat my secular
job. M~ parents did not depend on me financially. The more I thought about it, the
more I became convinced that the time spent

father, who is not in the truth, learned of.
my decision to be a pioneer, he said he
would never talk to me again and even
threatened to take his life. But I stuck to
my decision. Immediately my father ordered
me out of the home.
. "During those trying times my mother
constantly encouraged me. Also, I will never
be able to forget how my loving brothers and
sisters so kindly filled that vacuum of love
I needed. ,I will always be grateful to them.
The offers for meals were more than the
number of meals in a day. The brothers
wanted me. to keep healthy and even put
on some weight so that my father would not
think that I was suffering. When I went to
Jehovah in prayer, I especially felt the

provisions for his people, we enjoy
greatly the benefits of the Theocratic Ministry School. Not only
do we learn to express ourselves
better, but everyone attending has
the opportunity to grow in knowledge of the truth through the
material that is considered. The
Bible readings, life experiences,
School Guideboolc material and Aid
to Bible Understanding assignments
all contribute toward a wealth of
up-to-date truths acquainting us
ever more fully with our God, Jehovah, and his purposes. And now
the new schedule that is included

the material in the new Peace and

powerful reason why we will want
to be sure to attend each session
in the coming year if a t all possible.

greatly. Usually in each reading

THEOCRATIC MINISTRY SCHOOL FOR 1974

INSTRUCTIONS
During 1974 the Theocratic Ministry school should
be conducted by all congregations as follows:
TEXTBOOKS: The New World Translation of the
Holy Scriptures, The Watchtower [wl and the books
Aid to Bible Understanding [ad], Theocratic Ministry
School Guidebook [sg], "All Scripture Is Inspired of
God and Beneficial" [sil, True Peace and SecurityFrom What Source? [tp] and Yearbook of Jehovah's
Witnesses [yb] will be the basis for assignments.
ORAL REVIEW: 5 minutes. The brother who gave
the instruction talk the preceding week will present
no more than ten questions on material he covered
from the books ad or si. All may share.
INSTRUCTION TALK: No. 1: 15 minutes. This
should not be just a summary of the assigned material.
It should be a well-developed talk on a chosen theme,
assigned to elders if possible or, when necessary, to
qualified ministerial servants. The coverage should not
be superficial but should provide a presentation that
is truly informative and helpful to the congregation.
When preparing talks from si, the speaker should read
the corresponding information in ad to make sure that
the points he covers will be up-to-date.
TALK NO. 2: 6 minutes. This is a Bible reading of
the assigned material. The reading assignments are
short enough to permit the student to present explanatory
information in his opening and concluding remarks,
and even at fitting intermediate points. Historical background, prophetic or doctrinal significance, application
of rinciples and expressions of appreciation for the
wisfom reflected in the text may be included. The
talk should be planned in a way that allows for all
the assigned verses actually to be read. The allotted
time should be fully utilized.
- T W Z S NOS. 3 AND 4: 6 minutes each. These talks
are assigned to sisters whenever possible. When delivering one of these talks, the student may be either
seated or standing. Although using mainly notes and
the Bible in many cases, the students, when appropriate,
may read excerpts or quotations from the assigned
material. One assistant will be scheduled by the school
overseer, but additional assistants may be used. 8ettiigs
could include situations arising at home, in the field
service, the congregation or elsewhere; a t times the
presentation may simply be informative con~ersation
between family members or others. The one giving the
talk may either initiate the conversation to establish
the setting or have his assistant(s) do so. Not the
setting, but the material should be given prime consideration. Talks based on life experiences should be
developed in line with the assigned theme. The student
may want to work in a scripture, relate the story and
show how the fine example profits us personally. Also,
when presenting material from sg, the student may
a t times use an appropriate scripture or two to round
out the discussion. On written review nights both talks
should be developed in harmony with these instructions,
except for timing.

TALK NO. 5: 6 minutes. Assigned preferably to

a brother with some experience, it should be a trrlk to
the entire audience. While giving his talk from notes,
the speaker, when fitting, may read quotations or
pointed excerpts from the assigned material. It will
usually be best for the speaker to prepare his talk
with a Kingdom Hall audience in mind, so that it will
be truly informative and beneficial to those who actually
hear it. However, if the material especially lends itself
to another practical and suitable setting, the speaker
may choose to develop his talk accordingly.
PREPARING TALKS: Where the material makes
it possible, talks should follow a well-developed theme.
Choose a theme that will allow for the best coverage of
the material in the allotted time. Prepare all talks with
the points in mind to be considered next on the
Speech Counsel slip. When a setting is selected, endeavor to choose one that will show practical use of
the material assigned, where that is appropriate.
COUNSEL: Specific counsel on each student talk
will be given, following the program of progressive
counsel outlined a t the bottom of the S-ch
cotlnkl
slip. Appreciative comments on important points %vered by speakers and remarks highlightin the value
of the information to us can help to keep t%e attention
of all focused primarily on the Scriptural information
presented. Be careful to use no more than 2 minutes
for each student talk.
TIMING: No talk should go overtime; neither should
the counsel. Talks Nos. 2 through 5 wiIl be stopped
if necessary when the time is up.
WHEN WRITTEN REVIEWS
SCFIEDULED:
Periodically a written review will b3en.
In preparation, review principally the material in ad, sg, si and t p
and complete the assignment of personal Bible readlng.
Only the Bible may be used during the review. Each
student will check his own paper as the questions and
answers are read. The next week the oral review will
cover a few high points of the written review. If, for
some reason, local circumstances make it necessary, the
written review may be used a week later than what is
shown on the schedule. The twa talks scheduled that
evening may be assigned to brothers or sisters. Thirty
minutes will be set aside for the review and the talks
will be limited to five minutes each.
LARGE AND SMALL CONGREGATIONS: Congregations with a school enroliment, of flity or more
students should arrange for additional groups of
students to deliver the scheduled talks before other
elders, if possible. Rotate the students to the various
halls. Where it seems advisable, sisters may take any
talk, presenting it to someone else, as outlined for
Talks Nos. 3 and 4.
ABSENTEEISM: If a student is not present when
scheduled, a volunteer will take the assignment, making
whatever application he feels qualified to make on
such short notice. Or the school overseer may cover
the material with appropriate audience participation.

Service Meetings to Fit Your Congregation

I "And all your sons will be persons taught by Jehovah, and the
peace of your sons will be ,abundant," promises Isaiah 54 :13. The
service meeting is one of the arrangements through which such
teaching comes. Everyone ,in the
congregation can contribute to making it an enjoyable and beneficial
meeting.

Are' You a ' Sybsaiber?

This month, when we are aiding

others to appreciate the value of
Awake! and encouraging them to
subscribe, is a good time to think
of the advantages of subscribing
ourselves. When we subscribe we
make more certain that each issue
is delivered to our home and often
this is done before we could get

the release date for the distributors' copies arrives.
2 There is no need to hold back
from entering personal subscriptions, feeling that these would be
more work for the Society. In the
past it was Suggested that the
brothers pick up personal copies
a t the Kingdom Hall rather than
subscribe. Your cooperating during
this period was a great help and
was very much appreciated. But
we want all to know that now we
will be very glad to mail the magazines directly to your homes. Encouraging others to subscribe is
more convincing when we ourselves
are subscribers. Of course, this applies to The Watchtower also.
3 Undoubtedly, this would also be
a good time to review our individual needs a s f a r as distributors'
copies are concerned. Could we,
with a little planning, increase the
number that we order and place?

time can usually be given to each

all points are covered in a balanced

5 The question has been raised
as to how the brother assigned can
adequately conclude the service

presentations and literature offers
or otherwise show how the good
news might be deliyered? It should
usually be the more capable and
experienced publishers who are
asked to do this. Additionally, they

s the Joy of Dac

-_

'

ESUS commanded his followers: "Go therefore and make disciples of people of all
the nations, baptizing them." In 208 lands
and islands throughout the earth today, over
one and a half million praisers of Jehovah
God are living testimony to the fulfillment
of this commission of Jesus.
There is a special joy associated with making disciples. The apostle Paul wrote of this
joy to a congregation he worked to establish
in Thessalonica, Macedonia: "For what is
our hope or joy or crown of exultation-why,
is it not in f a d you? . . . You certainly are
our glory and joy." (1Thess. 2:19,20) It is
especially exhilarating to observe the happiness of sheeplike ones as they- come to appreciate basic truths about Jehovah God and
his purpose. Can you, too, share in that joy?
In modern times Bible studies have been
the most effective means of making disciples.
But some publishers may think that the
Bible study work is not for them. Why?
Possibly some feel unqualified due to old age,
sickness or lack of secular education.
Others have worked hard for some time in
the field ministry but have not been successful in starting studies. Many have discontinued unproductive studies after six months
and have been unable to find replacements.
Is there some way for these brothers and
sisters to share in the joy of making disciples
through Bible studies?

How Much Do You Want a Bible Study?

Success in the Bible study work is closely
related to how much one really wants to
share in it. Do you have a deep desire to
teach someone the truth? Have you made
it a matter of regular prayer? Have you
exerted extra effort in harmony with your
prayer?
A circuit overseer relates the experience
of a sixteen-year-old girl who did so: "This
young girl really wanted a Bible study and
so she prayed to Jehovah, asking his direction upon her efforts. Then she opened the

telephone book to the letter "A" and begm

calling people. She would introduce herself
and say: 'I am one of Jehovah's witnesses
offering, free Bible studies to people.' Many '
calls were made without success. But she did
not give up. Then a woman was contacted
who replied: 'I would love to have a Bible
study.' How interesting, too, to l e y that
this woman lived in a building in whiCh '
Jehovah's witnesses had not been able to preach!" Is your desire to obtain a Bible
study as strong as that? If you make i t a
matter of prayer and work a t it, Jehovah
will surely bless you.

How Can Studies Be Started?

There are many ways to start Bible sihdies.
In some areas this can be accomplished on
the first call by a direct offer to aid. the
householder to understand the Bible. This is
especially so where people have a reverenix?
for the Word of God. But in other places
brothers may find it necessary to break down
barriers such as prejudice, false doctrines
or indifference. In cases like these, several
Scriptural discussions may be necessary before a study can be established. You yourself
are the best one to decide which approach
to use in a particular situation.
Where you discern interest, be careful not
to let it cool off by waiting' too long before
calling again. There is no Scriptural requirement to wait a week or two before returning
to visit an interested person. Some publishers
arrange for a'return visit the w r y same duy
where unusual interest is detected. Others
call again within the week of the initial
contact and report excellent results.
Have you noticed that in some places ou
brothers work the territory over and ove
but few studies are started? Why is this so
Is it that the people simply are not interested
in the truth? Of course, this is possible. But .
could it be that what the brothers are saying
to the people does not arouse their interest?
If you are to be successful in starting Bj

householder the table of contents in the
Truth, book or the Peace and S e w I t p book.
Then ask: ",Which of these subjects would
you like to learn more about?" One circuit '
overseer in New York says that in his.territory people often pick the subjects "Why
We Grow Old and Die," "Why Has God Permitted Wickedness Until Our Day?", and
"How to Pray and Be Heard by God." Would
these subjects be effective in your territory?
If not, which ones would?
Is it always necessary to conduct studies
in a printed Bible study aid? Not a t all. In
fact, with some individuals it may be advantageous to use only the Bible for a period
of time. A missionary tells of the experience '
of a sister in Niigata, Japan:
"A Truth;book was placed with a woman
but on the return visit she did not invite the
publisher in. She had read some of the book
and noticed that it did not harmonize with
the Catholic religion." Did this sister give
up hope of starting a study there? The missionary contjnues:
"The sister suggested using only the Bible,
and the woman agreed. These discussions
went on for four months. Sometimes up to
fifty scriptures would be used in one sitting.
When this woman was convinced that she
was learning the truth, the sister pointed
out that she had gotten most of her material
from the Truth, book. Thereafter this interested person agreed to the we of printed
publications. Soon she got rid of her Catholic
images and began attending meetings. Then
she wrote to her priest to have her name
removed from the church roll." This woman
is now a Kingdom publisher with two Bible
studies of her own and hopes to be baptized
in the near future. Are there people in your
territory who would be willing to discuss the
Bible with you even though they refuse the
offer of literature?

slqdies you must find! out what the ! u p b

h some areas people do not respond to
discussions of Bible doctrine. But frequently
ese people me disturbed about the disonesty, immorality and lack of neighbor
love in the world today. Would people in your
territory who seem uninterested in Bible doctrine respond to a discussion of such matters
that definitely are on their minds? We have
just what they need in the new book True
Peace and Security-From What Source? Direct their attention to chapter 10, 12 or 13;
or read to them the opening paragraph of
chapter 14 or chapter 15. Perhaps this will
open the way for a fine study.
Or is it war, food shortage, pollution, disease or crime that disturbs them? The first
two chapters of the Peace and Securitg book
are ideal for discussions 'with such persons.
Just select an appropriate section and start
reading i t to them. The reasonableness of
the presentation may move them to realize
that, really, this is exactly what they have
been looking for.
A circuit -overseer in New York observed:
"People in the world frequently view Bible
study as something dull and uninteresting.
Our brothers must avoid making their presentations too general, simply mentioning
the Bible or Bible swdy. They need to show
people something specific." How can this be
done? This brother explains his oyn approach: "After introducing myself I often
_ say: 'We are asking a question of our neighbors today: Why do you think God allows
innocent 'people to suffer?' " Then he directs
'their attention to chapter 8 of the Truth
book. What subject would arouse people's
interest in your territory?
One good way to find out what people are
interested in is to listen carefully to what
they say. True, a person may bring up a
subject completely different from your prepared presentation. But, instead of pressing
forward with a matter that does not interest
him, would it not be better to direct him to
a section in one of the Society's publications

Studies Be Conducted?, Do you feel ill-equipped to conduct .Bible
studies for save reason? Some migl
that, because their secular education is very
limited, the Bible study work is not for them.
But 'is this necessarily true? Consider the
experience of a brother from Guaddoupe
who could neither read nor write. The branch
overseer in that country relates: "This brother met a man from door to door and placed
a book with him. When he made the return
visit he did not mention that he could not
read. Instead he encouraged the man to get
his book. He would have the man read the
paragraphs and then the questions. Then he
would ask: 'Could you give rqe the answer
to the question you just read?' In this way
the man progressed to the point of meeting
attendance and now shares in the field ministry." Others with limited education take
another publisher along with them to help
them to conduct their Bible studies.
Is it sickness or some physical handicap
that keeps you from sharing in the joy of
conducting Bible studies? A circuit overseer
from Massachusetts observed: "Often
ones conducting studies a r e those that
older or infirm, not the younger, healt
ones." An example is a special pioneer in'
the Netherlands who became crippled for
ten years. Did this keep her from teaching
the truth to others? An overseer acquainted
'with her points out: "During all of that time
this sister continued in full-time service as
a regular pioneer. She would conduct studies
by her bedside. In fact, she had such capabilities in this feature of the service that
other publishers would bring their interested
persons to her. This sister has aided scores
of people to the point of dedication.,,
Is it your heartys desire to share in
joy of making disciples? Then make it a
matter of prayer and explore every way
open to you of obtaining a Bible study.
Remember, success in the Bible study work
does not depend on natural ability or worldly
education& status. No, but "our being adequately qualified issues from God."-2
Cor.
3:5.
o

When you make return visits on interested

people do You find they are seldom a t home?
Today's high costs and the fast Pace at which
people live often keep them away from home
for long hours each day. But some publishers
have gone out of their way to share in the
joy of conducting Bible studies with such
people.
In Florida, for example, there is a sister
who got out of bed and went to conduct a
study with an interested couple each week
a t 3:30 a.m. because this was the only convenient time for that couple to study. An
overseer from the Netherlands tells of a
brother in Amsterdam who studied with a
dance instructor weekly between two and
four in the morning. This man eventually
,sold his dancing establishment and. entered
the pioneer ministry. He now serves as an
elder in his congregation.
Perhaps you cannot study with a certain
person in his home. But could the study go
on somewhere else? Many Bible studies are
held in Kingdom Halls, in automobiles or in
places of business. An overseer from South
AfI;ica says that there many brothers conduct studies a t work during lunch hour because the interested persons live far away
from the brothers' homes. A brother who is
now a missionary tells of conducting a study
in New York in a subway change booth. A
circuit overseer started a study with a New
not able to
York taxi driver, but they
get together a t a central location. What did
they do? The brother explains: "Somehow
we managed to study regularly. We held our
study in his home, in his taxi, a t the Kingin restaurants, in the park and
in my home." Now this interested man attends all meetings, has joined the Theocratic
Ministry School and plans to be baptized
soon. Would it be possible for You, too, to
conduct a Bible study a t an unusual time
or place? Are you willing to make the necessary adjustments in your schedule to share
in such a joy?
